What are games that you objectivelly understand to be bad, but just can't help yourself to not like them. Mine are:

Blood Omen 2- well it doesn't exactly suck, but it probably doesn't deserve a 10 rating that I gave it either.

Second Sight- even though I do see this games flaws, but I just really like it, gave it 8.5.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic- bad story - yes, uninteresting characters and some boring times in the game - I agree. But this one also has posibly the greatest melee combat in any game. That made my rating jump up to 8.5.

Dead Island- I understand why many people felt let down after the amazing trailer. But for me the game was still pretty awesome, even though not quite what I expected.

What are your choices?

AvP2010 I thought it was rather fun, looked great, Ran decently (once I got decent GPU drivers) For the price I got it for was like $15. (of course this was back in 2010.)

Alpha Protocol, wouldn't really call it a bad game, but it wasn't recieved all that well. It had some flaws, and did not like Anti-aliasing forced on it. Also it worked better with a controller. But I really liked the game.

Duke Nukem Forever, the single player was ok, a bit of a letdown. However the multiplayer would of been a decently redeeming quality if it didn't suffer from Lag Galore. (got it for like $5 or $7)

Darksiders, had a few performance issues, and was a bad port, but a decent game. (I am looking forward to it on the WiiU)

C&C4 although it was undoubtedly the worst C&C made, it was ok from a video game point of view. Had a wonderful soundtrack!

Alpha Protocol and Kane and Lynch 2

Alpha Protocol was not a very good game, but simply being a spy RPG and having cool characters with an interesting story was good enough for me.

Kane and Lynch 2 is a very VERY short game, but the story is explosively intense and the game has a very unique mulitiplayer component.

SWTOR.

Great game in my opinion. It has been called the worst video game to be released in over a decade by certain people on thie fourm. Meh, I like it and to me that's all that matters.

Frontlines: FoW - It wasn't the most well polished game. There were bugs everywhere, messed up AI. Regardless, I had a blast with the campaign. Using drones were damn fun. The Last Remnant - Definitely not Square's best RPG. It had awkward dialogues, re-used character models and a lot of the environment didn't feel alive. Still... I thought the battle/BR system was great, so were the graphics, it was challenging and (admittedly) the story was better than average fantasy games. The Saboteur - It wasn't the best ported console game, but overall, I just had more fun with it versus GTA IV.

F.E.A.R. 3 - The visuals are atrocious, the story non-existent and the horror elements that made the original so great consumed by a hail of bullets and gore. But, it's one hell of a shooter.

Oh yeah I completely forgot about Sniper: Ghost Warrior. The campaign was fun, but man the multiplayer had so much stripped from it, it wasn't even funny.

I actually have all the games you mentioned (except DNF and C&C) in my wishlist and I wondered if they are worth the shot. So thanks! Maybe you can expand why would you recommend those 3 to try out? Thanks!

FEAR 3 might fall into this category. It's not necessarily bad, but some of its design choices are downright repulsive and as a FEAR instalment it was a total letdown. However, the co-operative mode is some of the best mindless fun I've had in a long while.

Sure!

Alpha Protocol, mainly because there isn't much competition or alternatives for a Spy/Espionage RPG.

The story was fun, as it does get shaped by your actions (which the conversations are timed based, meaning you can't take forever making a decision in the conversations.) The gameplay is fun, though flawed, controls and such, graphics are ok, but could be much better. I wen't through stealth, and HAnd to hand as much as possible, which really made the game more fun imo. I think if you can grab it for $5-10, it would be a good deal.

AvP 2010, It had great graphics, even better if you run in DX11. The campaigns are a bit shorter than previous AvP titles. (from what I remember) Though it was still a fun ride. It was really fun playing as all 3 races. Predator because you get some awesome Visions, and weapons. Aliens, because you can go basically anywhere. Humans, because the whole time is one big fear fest lol, Though honestly the aliens weren't the scary part, The spooky part for me was going through an abandoned complex, with the wind and sand flowing around me. All of a sudden I hear the Predator laugh (or do the mimicry) I frantically look around to find him, but alas he is not to be seen, prolly cause he is cloaked. Multiplayer is fun, just not a whole lot of people playing it, and people camp the weapon spawns. But at times the multiplayer was really fun too. I recommend it for $5-7.

Darksiders, well there isn't a whole lot (especially in the pc universe) that is in the same playstyle as this game. It borrows mechanics and core gameplay methods from Legend of Zelda and God of War/maybe even a little from Devil May Cry. It all takes place during "Armageddon" (not to be confused with "Apocalypse" different meaning all together) so it has a decently unique setting. The combat in it is ok, the story is pretty good. I like the exploration of games of this type, which is one reason why we are getting a WiiU. All those awesome Zelda and Mario games. I recommend for $5-7. It is however a good game, but a bad port, so don't expect much in the way of graphical options with this title.

Hope this helps!

Big thanks! Very informative. I will definitively get alpha protocol, it sounds maybe similar to deus ex? (which I loved) The graphics isn't really a problem for me, I care about gameplay more. Judging from what you said, it sounds really great. I loved the old AvP game, and I thought I would get this one, your post and some gameplay video on youtube removed all doubt - I'm getting it. If it's anything like the old one (and from what I heard it is) it's going to be money well spent. I'm still not so sure about Darksiders, I try to avoid ports that have this raw console feel (camera, movement, simplification). Anyway, thanks a lot for the post!

TheDude184
Haha I felt the same way about Dark Messiah. For some reason I loved kicking the crap out of all my opponents.

Mafia 2 - a lot of random hate for this game, nowhere near as good as the first but still a lot of fun

Far Cry 2 - I found ways to get past thost damned checkpoints, world was awesome enough to negate repetition

Splintercell: Double Agent (the PS2 version anyways)

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault - one of the best WW II-themed sp campaigns ever, no one ever talks about this game ever and it was way better than Far Cry or Doom 3 (other big shooters of 2004)

Risen/2 - great RPG's with some clunkiness, brutally underrated by most North American critics

Two Worlds 2 - very fun RPG

Medal of Honor: Airborne - I had a lot of fun with this game, it had great gunplay and solid replayability.

Anything on the console is bad, but Metal Gear Solid 4 was epic. I beat that game without killing a single enemy and unlocked Stealth Camo and the Ammo Bandana in my first run.

That's odd, I actually liked all of those except for 5 but that's probably only because I haven't played it yet :P But then again I'm into a lot of cult classics.

The Saboteur - It wasn't the best ported console game, but overall, I just had more fun with it versus GTA IV.flipin_jackass

One of the best $4.99 I spent at GameStop (you know, back when they actually carried PC games - now most don't have any or one or two shelves on a small push rack.....those bastards) was on The Saboteur.

It's like they took the good, fun entertaining parts out of Assassin's Creed (climbing buildings and running across rooftops, fleeing from the law), the awesome era of Mafia (old guns and cars), the run free roaming of GTA III (the good GTA game; stealing cars, fleeing from cops) and the ass kicking attitude of the movie Boondock Saints (first one, not the second one).

I spent hours playing the game. I liked it so much, when I came across another cheap copy I bought it for my younger brother. It certainly is a game you should try if you like free roam, kick the crap out of things and racing cars.

Duke Nukem Forever - Thought it was a good game. I think people were expecting too much because it took 13 years, without realising the ridiculously broken development the game really went through. If you lowered your expectations, the game was fun. Mafia 2 - Fantastic game, only slightly disappointing because of all the stuff that was clearly stripped out of it for DLC. I blame the publishers for not allowing that game to be as great as it could have been or as amazing as the first. I still hope for a third game with more control from the devs.

Alpha Protocol- Not really "bad", just incredibly underpolished and dated. The RPG mechanics, writing and locations are all awesome, but the gameplay, AI, level design and graphics all look like something from late last gen. Its a shame they could put it all in a more compelling package, especially when Deus Ex: Human Revolution does a great job doing right what Alpha Protocol did wrong.

Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days- I hated the first since it controlled like crap, but the second I think was an improvement. Not a big one, but at least the AI and controls didn't suck. Its far from what I'd consider to be a "good" game, but the camera effect was neat, the story was interestingly presented (if a bit predictable and weird) and the multiplayer is easily the best part of the package, at least if it wasn't so lag riddles (also, the game does not work that great on PC, the intentional ugliness just seems so fake and the controls are too damn slippery when running).

Dead Island- Not a "bad" game, even by reviews. I think that it was simply disappointing and poorly done in a lot of ways, but in co-op it is an absolute blast, and I think the melee system might give Condemned 2's amazing melee combat a run for its money, especially since this game lets me dismember enemies and use sharp weapons on limbs or even throw my weapon.

considering that people list dead island, saboteur, darksiders and frontlines as bad games...well it kinda makes sense. Anyway saboteur is the best gta clone this gen. Awesome story, nice shooting mechanics, great missions, as opposed to gta and other open world games, nice character and good graphics for that time, also climbing stuff. The easy gameplay and white and black kinda let me down Darksiders was really good but i wish the dodge system was better and the black tower portal level did not exist. hawx was pretty good, the first one, the second... too much aerial corridors, seriously corriodrs in a dogfight game? Frontlines fuel of war had a campaign that allowed you to do many diffirent things, use mechs, limb up the buildings and use snipers, use vehicles, complete objectives in a nonlinear way. This is how you do battlefield singleplayer not super scripted. Hopefully black ops 2 drives the genre forward with its trikeforce missions and other generic military fps developers choose to copy it just like they did with the previous cods. I am amazed how anyone can say dead island is bad. It is basicly a mixture of borderlands and far cry 2 but you fight zombies with meele weapons. Nowhere near as repettive as any of those 2 games. I really liked the graphics and the atmosphere, admitedly the game is too long. Still havent finished it. I fail to see how kingdoms of amalaur is a bad game, its a great game, better than second hand rpgs, eg LOTR war in the north or game of thrones or hunted the demon's forge and dragon age 2. or risen, i have yet to play 2. Rage was a good game, not an amazing game though. I liked how it was the oppostie of borrderlands and fallout 3 /skyrim and strifed for less but more unique and less copy and paste. The port was a disaster though, enemies took too many bullets and the ending killed all replay value and wish. Saints row 2, personally its better than the third in every way, apart from the port and absymal graphics. Binary domain, the idea behind it, the story and the revolutionary mice commands and responses were indeed interesting, or blowign up limbs and see the robots crawling at you, the upgrade system and the port could use work though. If i think of more ill come up with em. Too bad i cant add Deadly Premonition since its not on pc.

Why are you saying Dark Messiah is a bad game? It's an amazing game. Amazingly underrated too. Best melee combat this gen, period.

Yeah I agree, but I mean more like "bad in other's eyes". Most people consider it to be mediocre. While it's actually amazing.
