My cpmputer turns on but my monitor stays black. Is that what happens when you have a bad video card??

check your connection to the monitor.

And try using your backup card/onboard.

Happened to me once, I just had to reset my BIOS. Remove the CMOS battery for 10 seconds and place it back in and give it a try. What board do you have, I'll point out for you where the CMOS batter is located -- it looks like a watch battery.

Nah if it was your VGA then your BIOS would beep a lot if all's ok it should beep once for about 1-2 seconds you probably have a bad connection

this seems simple but have you tried that montior with other PC's make sure the monitor is working and test the actually Port on the monitor also.

Is it installed in your case correctly and not grounding out ,have you tested it outside of the case?

i had a recent bad card, i tried uninstalling the drivers and everything but recenting my BIOS. Also I even reformated my computer and still nothing. i had another GPU that i had to swap between to make sure it is the GPU.
