I honestly wouldn't. It was a great game at the time and i'm sure people have good memories with it but there are superior games on the market now. The kind of people that play BF2 now have been playing it for years and it would be hard to get a foot in.

He's right, unfortunately. Fired the game up a few months ago and it really didn't age well in the gameplay and graphics department.

There's milions of people playing CS 1.6, and that's older than Battlefield 2. What's wrong with the gameplay, i don't care about graphics. I saw Project Reality mod, and it really cought me. I am looking for a hardcore game, a game that requires GOOD teamplay. About Battlefield 3. Please, shoot yourself, ok ? Too many cheaters, some animations are bad, or at least worse than BC 2, for eg explosions. Too many bugs, too. Input lag on consoles, and so on and so forth.

It could go cheaper, to around 5 bucks. Just give it a shot and see for urself. Bf2 mechanics, like running, jumping.. have always been clunky, we all knew that when playing it before it became "dated". Graphics are still pretty decent, water looks nice, better than bf3 lol, n if u find a teamworking squad you'll have surely some good time. The first impression will be of a dated game, but keep playing for some mins and u'll get used to it and see its beauty. This game got better and more advanced squad features, working properly, unlike the useless comm rose in bf3 and the silly merged assault/medic class.

I've played it before at a friend for like half a hour. It's ok, but i wanted to know if there's still a strong community out there. Also, how is Arma 2. The original one, without any expansion or mod ?

Arma II is a horrible game, stay away from it. There are still many highly populated 64 ppl servers in bf2.

Battlefield 2 has aged quite poorly. The graphics are outdated (but functional), the latency and hit detection issues still persist (these were there since day 1), the gun play is straight up bland (never was the game's strong suit), and the community is pretty thin.

Even worse the game itself is horribly balanced. Jets and helicopters completely dominate the battlefield with no effective counter other than similar vehicle types (which are really easy to suppress) and grenade spam rules the ground warfare. It's just frustrating, not fun.

The only reason I install Battlefield 2 now is to play one of the few mods that are actually great. Forgotten Hope 2 is my favorite and Project Reality is pretty unique. The problem is the community for both is quite thin.

If you've been playing modern FPSs, the game is going to feel outdated pretty quickly. It's still a fantastic game if you can find a full server with people who aren't abusing the exploitable gameplay and are actually trying to have a fun time. That's pretty rare though.

A hardcore game that requires good teamplay? I highly recommend giving Red Orchestra 2 a spin, I hear Planetside 2 is also pretty focused on teamplay and if you really want beyond hardcore team combat then maybe delve into ArmA 2.

As if every Battlefield game wasn't buggy as **** for years beyond release. Personally, I prefer Red Orchestra 2 to the Battlefield series. It pretty much solves every single problem I've had with the Battlefield series.
