Do it, best multiplayer game ever, beats new battlefields in everyway and still has lots of ppl playing it.
I honestly wouldn't. It was a great game at the time and i'm sure people have good memories with it but there are superior games on the market now. The kind of people that play BF2 now have been playing it for years and it would be hard to get a foot in.
Don't listen to him, he plays quake :P[QUOTE="alan_carter"][QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]no it's aged badly hit detection is beyond terribleMasenkoe
No, Battlefield 2 has aged very poorly.
He's right, unfortunately. Fired the game up a few months ago and it really didn't age well in the gameplay and graphics department.Battlefield 2 has aged quite poorly. The graphics are outdated (but functional), the latency and hit detection issues still persist (these were there since day 1), the gun play is straight up bland (never was the game's strong suit), and the community is pretty thin.
Even worse the game itself is horribly balanced. Jets and helicopters completely dominate the battlefield with no effective counter other than similar vehicle types (which are really easy to suppress) and grenade spam rules the ground warfare. It's just frustrating, not fun.
The only reason I install Battlefield 2 now is to play one of the few mods that are actually great. Forgotten Hope 2 is my favorite and Project Reality is pretty unique. The problem is the community for both is quite thin.
If you've been playing modern FPSs, the game is going to feel outdated pretty quickly. It's still a fantastic game if you can find a full server with people who aren't abusing the exploitable gameplay and are actually trying to have a fun time. That's pretty rare though.
