I got paid a little while ago so I figured I would go ahead and buy another game. After looking through some options, I have decided to either get Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

I have looked at several reviews for each game and they both seem to be exceptional. Perhaps some people on GameSpot could give me their personal opinions. I am also completely open to other suggestions so that would be lovely, too.

Honestly being that Battlefield is so new I would wait and purchase Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the online gameplay experience is 10 MILLION times better than Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This game is severely lacking in it's online department. You would be sore disappointed in Bad Company if you sat down and played both online,a lthough both have a wonderful single player campaign. Plus, with Battlefield you have so many connection issues currently that it's down right pathetic.

DO NOT BUY MW2!

The PC version is a joke, its filled with hackers, and is just a straight console port.

Game to game they both offer things and really can't justify either on a gaming sense. Mw2 is smaller scale to bc2 bigger with higher population cap. Both single players are bland and its all about multiplayer.

Now saying that, the fact mw2 is so full of hackers, I cannot warrant anyone getting mw2. If you have any friends who have the game on pc, ask them how bad it is. The only way to even enjoy mw2 is to get with a clan, and do small matches against other clans. Even that though doesn't provent hacking and since there is no way to stop it community wise it will never stop. (No dedicated servers and no ability to ban anyone). Here is a extra kicker. mw2 is still selling for 59.99 while bc2 is at the normal pc price of 49.99. (thats steam prices. Possibly cheaper getting from a store for mw2 at this point)

Because of all of this, if you had to choose one then go with Bad company 2. It is developed by dice but published by EA so there are some bugs. (EA is known for forcing developers to rush the games out). Mainly though its connection problems and not in game problems which is actually a shock to me. I expected to see alot of graphical problems but I have not. They are apparently fixing things out tonight on a major maintenance update. Even with the connection problems for some users, I will have to say Bad Company 2.

I played MW2 for a few months before getting BFBC2 (obviously) but here is my honest opinion. Battlfield Bad Company 2 has an infinitely more rich multi-player experience. More stable games, no hackers, no glitch abuse, nothing of that sort. The entire I've been playing BFBC2, I've encountered one hacker and he was unanimously seen as such, then quickly voted out. That's not to say that there currently aren't a lot of technical issues, but they are getting fixed fairly fast, whereas MW2 is still struggling to keep their IWNet up and running properly. Also, if you don't like Steam, then MW2 is going to bring you down, seeing as it's required. When it comes to the single player games, I will not lie and say that MW2's beats BFBC2's by a massive slaughter. BFBC2's campaign is incredibly generic when it comes to the gameplay and IMO, was poorly done. However, I know that games are more rich when it comes to the MP of the game. BFBC2 has the MP strength, and the community behind it infinitely better. MW2 has a greater single-player experience, and does have far more to unlock. BFBC2 though is a significantly better game in my opinion.

I bought MW2 and im pissed. I basically payed $60 dollars for an online arcade ( And not the Fun ones like Asteroids and Street fighter II) game full of cheaters. best thing about the game is sniping, and from what ive seen, BFBC2 sniping is better and it doesn't even have PRONE.

bought to go trade some games in and get me a $10 BFBC2. Best believe it will be my last FPS for the next couple of years, and the best $10 bucks this PC gamer ever payed.

I've only played MW2 on the 360 and I liked it...till people started doing all sorts of weird little glitches and stuff. Now I stopped playing. I just bought Bad Company 2 today and I love it; but then again I loved MW2 for the first month till people started glitching... None the less I would recommend Bad Company 2. On the PC when maxed out it looks AMAZING. The sounds and how close bullets wizz by you really makes you feel like your there more so then any other game I've played so far. MW2 is a great game too. More of a solo game. Bad Company 2 is more team orientated but you can still do good solo as well. I think my best so far has been a 12-2 game and a 22-8 game. I don't even have 100 kills total yet. :P

battlefield for sure. though i must say it is more arcade than i thought it was. I think im going crazy. You run so fast in battlefield... but for some reason, the first 2 hours i played it, it seemed ok, but then its like i was hit by a meteor and i realized how fast everybody was running... XP i even made a thread cause i thought it was mods at work.

but anyway, battlefield > modern warfare

It's hilarious how since Battlefields very conception everyone has hyped it so much, and most of these knuckleheads here have bought into that. I honestly don't care of your opinions of myself, or the Call of Duty Franchise, this game is knew, so the hype is definitely already there. It will die out long before Call of Duty, numbers are beckoning that, and have been since Call of Duty's release. So, whatever.

Give it time for the glitches to come on Battlefield. The only difference is that Infinity Ward patches the PC versions first and foremost once glitches are discovered, and he finds a way around them. EA wont give the same benefits as they're out to destroy the PC gaming indstury will fists full of cash.

^^^LOLOLOLOL. If you've ever played Call of Duty, and you want to play this game you'll realize that killing someone on Battlefield is like Painkiller on steroids, this is very much truthful, and regretfully so. People want to claim that I was simply horrible at Battlefield, I was not. I'm just not going to buy into the hype of this game. I always held 20+ kills, and helped carry my sqaud if anyone worth while was on my squad, this still did not make me enjoy the game. I'm better at this, than Call of Duty, its a lot easier.

Being that you've already encountered a hacker for this game, ALREADY it's only a matter of time before it runs rampant here too. There is no question about that, you cannot stop them. You can kick the few that you're noticing, but this wont always be the case. It's only a matter of time my friends. If you don't rush out and buy this game you wont be able to enjoy it due to hackers. Thinking otherwise is completely irrational.

After spending several hours with both games on PC I must say that Call of Duty's core gameplay is FAR (I mean really far) superior to Battlefield. I have to admit that I really suck at Battlefield right now but it seems like it is way too difficult to shoot someone if they aren't directly in front of you. It also takes a ridiculous number of bullets to actually kill an enemy. I wish that I could combine the gametypes/vehicles/servers from Battlefield BC 2 with the core FPS gameplay of Call of Duty.

Atleast that "straight console port" has better aiming than other multiplatform games such as call of juarez bound in blood. My point is that straight console port is a better pc version than half the multiplatform games out there will be. I just wanted to aknowledge that. But anyway bad company 2 is ofcourse better, i just hope they throw more "omg" moments in the singleplayer instead of making fun of mw2. However i got to admit that when there are no cheaters i enjoy mw2 shooting and mp more than bad company 2.

Of course you did, you're a Battlefield Bad Company 2 fan boy, why wouldn't you think something like that? Get over it, get over me.

You call people fanboys while you are one of the biggest MW2 fanboys on this forum. Want to play a good CoD game go play CoD4 or CoD2 and stop wasting peoples time with MW2 banter.

Too bad Call of Duty has hackers and IW can barely patch glitches before making an infinitely worse one.

I'd rather play with legit players who are typically nice rather than little children who call BS at every turn. I know you're just a troll and all, but you're doing a pretty fail job.

It's too bad that you're too naive to realize that soon is the future for Battlefield Bad Company 2, in fact.. It's almost sad, and hilarious at the same time. Quit your wishful thinking.

Go For BFBC2.

Let me put it this way. With Bad Company 2, Dice have brought in all of our very favourite aspects of both Battlefield2 and COD4:MW.

Playing BC2 is like playing COD 4 with tanks and helicopters, it is fast intense and highly adaptable. the different gameplay modes offer all the fun and intense action of COD4 while the Map sizes and the squad based tactics make it a Battlefield game. I haven't been able to play consistently size the release because of the server issues at EA, and I was a little annoyed at having to download a 310 Mb update on day one, but it is by far the best Online Multiplayer FPS. Most of the COD die hards will struggle to adjust to the tactics of the game, but will enjoy the combat. BF2 players will exploit all they can from the games tactical warfare with tanks and choppers, as well as the squad based warfare.

Like I said above it brings together all of the best aspects of two of the most popular Online multiplayer FPS games of the last 5 years.

*Looks at the catalog of PC games published by EA and looks at the previous BF games patching schemes* Uh huh. Gotta love it when you spew out bull and consider it as a fact. If you ever looked at any Battlefield game in the past, you will easily see that they tend to fix most exploits or issues people have with forthcoming patches. They even were nice enough to release the purchase add-ons for free to anyone who did not have them already. So stop with the EA is ending the world crap and admit that your "facts" don't hold water.

Having put 56 hours into MW2 and 39 hours into BC2 I have come to the conclusion that Bad company 2 is the better game out of those two.

After a week of playing MW2 at launch I was bored of the game and quit playing, and haven't even looked at it since. However, I am still playing BC2 daily and don't plan to lighten up as I still have a ton of levelling to do and haven't even played all the game modes yet.

after playing squad deathmatch today after playing only rush and conquest the last week, i think bad company 2 will hold me for a long time. i never bought modern warfare 2 because of the higher price and the fact that the multiplayer is not so much different than the one ive enjoyed for so long in cod4.

i would also like to add that the building destruction is awesome. It reminds me so much world in conflict's building destruction. It actually changes the match a reasonable amount.

and theres one of them now... not stereotyping, just don't like how everybody is saying MW2 is a bad game when its not. If you like BC2 better thats fine they're very different games but saying that MW2 sucks and theres no reason to play is just stupid, theres 4 times as many people playing MW2 as there are BC2 on steam.

Wow onfive, if you would have read through this thread then you would have understood I have both games. Sigh man. Guess I should reply to your "4 times as many people playing mw2 at there are bc2 on steam". ALL mw2 has to run through steam. Steam is not the only place to get bad company 2 nor is it the database for the max players so there is no way to prove or disprove anything by looking at steam stats lol. 100,000 mw2 players on PC at this moment. Only thing we can do is wait on EA to release information on such things to draw any conclusions. I hope you aren't trying to look at just steam stats and making claims because of that. I guess when people decide to trash talk and are proven wrong they have to continue trash talking.

According to your logic everyone that likes one game is immediately a fanboy of it? And this isn't about whether or not MW2 sucks, it's about whether Bad company 2 is better than Modern warfare 2

I stayed away from MW2 simply for the fact of the higher price point, lack of dedicated servers and overpowered skill sets. BFBC2 has one thing I have been waiting forever for. Destructible environments, and not the cheesy destructible environments that were in Crysis. Nothing more satisfying than shooting an RPG at the wall of a building a sniper is hiding in and bringing down the whole house on top of his head. Last PC game to do this was Soldner but it was so bug ridden it was unplayable.

[QUOTE="damstr"]I've only played MW2 on the 360 and I liked it...till people started doing all sorts of weird little glitches and stuff. :P Cdscottie

Give it time for the glitches to come on Battlefield. The only difference is that Infinity Ward patches the PC versions first and foremost once glitches are discovered, and he finds a way around them. EA wont give the same benefits as they're out to destroy the PC gaming indstury will fists full of cash.

Because of the connection issues have been fixed so fast, and hackers are already being reported. Nice try, but you can't beat the hackers like you think.

Probably won't be able to stop all hackers but unlike MW2, the servers are dedicated and allow for an admin console. If there server is active, chances are there will be an admin to kick said hackers/exploiters. The best defense against hackers are a good set of server rules/admins. And as for the connection issues, yes it was unfortunate but people are currently playing it now without a hitch and loving it. (This is coming from a guy who doesn't own either game, so don't even try the fanboy crap with me.)

and theres one of them now... not stereotyping, just don't like how everybody is saying MW2 is a bad game when its not. If you like BC2 better thats fine they're very different games but saying that MW2 sucks and theres no reason to play is just stupid, theres 4 times as many people playing MW2 as there are BC2 on steam.

Koltr0nTheGreat

I love how Battlefield fanboys whine and whine and defend this game. It's horrible, sure you must've been horrible at Call of Duty, but that's no one elses problem but yours. Quit denying people of their opinions simply because you have a different one. This is a forum, not your personal Battlefield forum. Should you be defending on it on Battlefiels own website I would agree with you, until then you should hold your tongue.

So confused who you are trash talking koltron. If you are speaking to me, I hope you read this whole thread before making a comment. I'm not defending the game in anyway in the discussion with onfive. Onfive came in and made a claim that those agreeing to bc2 as a better game in the poll are "mw2 boycotters". I stated "so you stereotyping everyone onfive?. He then stated I was one of them and stereotyped me in that group. There is no whining nor is there an attempt in this case to justify bc2 as a better game. I stated my opinion on that subject on the first page.

Like MW2's online system is even comparable to BC2's on that front. You can't immediately remove nuisances in MW2..and even if one is *eventually* confirmed to be cheating and gets banned, there's ALWAYS going to be more ruining the experience.

The issue is that you can't immediately kick people without player-administered servers. Bad Company 2 has that. MW2 doesn't, which makes it inferior in that aspect. There is no argument to be had when it comes to this..the multiplayer structure of MW2 is downright inferior. Deal with it.

So you stereotyping everyone onfive?

OnFive

and theres one of them now... not stereotyping, just don't like how everybody is saying MW2 is a bad game when its not. If you like BC2 better thats fine they're very different games but saying that MW2 sucks and theres no reason to play is just stupid, theres 4 times as many people playing MW2 as there are BC2 on steam.

Steam is not an adequate measuring stick, as EVERYONE playing MW2 is through steam, however many BC2 players are not. It's like how infinity ward goes on about how many people are playing MW2 despite most non-steam statistics saying CoD 4 is more played.
