Counter Strike Source was the first online game I played but hardly played with it so then I got Counter Strike Anthology and played Counter Strike 1.6. For beginners I would say that is find a beginner server first and after a hour or two find a deathmatch server and try and improve. After a while you shall get better. If you really want to improve try and find a clan which helps =]
HAPPY CS'in though!
the only thing beginners should do is try to find a fun map. Fun map are usually fun, unlike those normal maps you start with on CS.
I hate how experts hate fun maps, they think they are all pros just by playing with Awps, and playing normals maps.
Especially when they are admins changing the map, to normal ones. Can't they just get enough with the old maps! gosh!
I remember the WC community being very evil to beginners. I lost all my first 8 online games (winning\losing is being tracked!) and most of the times my allies were jumping in their chairs mad.
If people make mistake with random-allies\friends, usually the others are raging at their mistakes shouting things like "NOOB". Some would leave (making the beginner automatically lose, 1v2 isn't easy)
So I expect the CS community to be as harsh as the WC one. It's also obvious that playing with teamates that regularly die, that you can't trust,is very frustrating.

WC community is pretty sick if you do AT though, or 1v1
