Ok both longest journeys are on my list. Siberia 1 and 2 look interesting also. sam and max and grim fandango look great too. Any more suggestions are welcome.
I found The Longest Journey to be the most overrated PC game I have ever played (my score was a 7.9, GS's was 9.3). That being said, its a decent game.
The problems I had with it were:
Still, the middle section of the game was quite good, although here and there came a VERY frustrating puzzle to kill your enjoyment.
Sanitarium is the best Adventure Game I have ever played. Kudos to Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango as well.

If you never played the Myst series, it's just great. Really have to use your mind and figure a lot out. And I know this isn't exactly an adventure game, but you should check out the Penumbra series as well.
i heard Penumbra Black Plague was excellent but i havent played it so...

Oh it is!! Overture and black plague were wonderful games. The thirs was garbage though
I"m gonna have to agree with Indigo Prophecy. As far as new adventure games it offers a whole new kind of interaction. For example even opening door you have to click your mouse button and swing your mouse as if you were controlling the characters hand to open the door. It's got a bit of action in it and the puzzles aren't all that tough, but the story line, atmosphere and the amount of interacting you get to do make the game a must play.
The whole monkey island from 1-4 to the latest tales of monkey island is awesome (great production on the last one) and any and all TellTale Games is just great stuff.
If you're looking for old school though then I'd just stick with Sierra and Lucasarts games. Those were the top of the line back then.
Grim Fandango is still one of the best LucasArts adventure games I've ever played. Some other favorites of mine (in no particular order) include:
The King's Quest series (especially King's Quest V and VI)
The Myst series (brilliant)
And although I may get some flack for this, Bad Mojo! What other game allows you to adventure as a cockroach?!
Edit: I forgot to add 11th Hour and Phantasmagoria to this list. Some of the most atmospheric games ever made.
I definitely second Penumbra: Overture and presumably Black Plague as well despite not having played it yet, hope to very soon though. Zork: Grand Inquisitor is also one of my favorites. Full Throttle and pretty much all of the LucasArts games are brilliant as well. If you count Penumbra: Overture as a pure adventure game then you could probably call Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth one too. Been a while since I played it but I remember it having a big emphasis on puzzles even though combat plays a role as well.
Adventure games! My personal favorites: - Monkey Island 1, 2, 3 & 4 - Grim Fandango - The Dig - Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis - Sam 'n' Max Hit The Road - Day of the Tentacle - Flight of the Amazon Queen - Normality - Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers - Runaway: A Road Adventurestealthcam0
Is it really good? I was wondering whether or not to play that, the basic premise didn't really grab me though, is it a good game?
[QUOTE="KhanhAgE"]I'm surprised only one person mentioned Gabriel Knight...AFBrat77
I'm surprised I'm the only one who mentioned Sanitarium!
Those two games really bring back memories!Especially Sanitarium. I really liked that game.
The Quest for Glory series and the King's Quest series are really good games too.
