which is best?

Avira has the best detection rate. Avast! is a little bit behind Avira, and AVG is waaay behind either of those two. You have to do some editing to Avira's default config to make its popup notifications go away, though. WHAT ? avg far behind? why? link?[QUOTE="metaltoiletry"]
Avira is really good

You didn't hear about AVG putting important files from System32 in quarrentine causing the OS not to boot not that long ago? Detection rates are pretty bad as well.
Avira by far.
AVG isn't behind....it is one of the most commonly used free anti virus and updates are released all the time to fix issues and update the virus vault. Don't go by fanboism just google the names of the ones recommend and see which one fits your needs most. :)

Maybe you should do a little research before calling people "fanboys" or whatever. They update Norton alot too but that dosen't make it a good antivirus, exept for Norton 2009 since I've been hearing good things.

never heard that, will use avira now :D THANKS[QUOTE="Makari"]Avira has the best detection rate. Avast! is a little bit behind Avira, and AVG is waaay behind either of those two. You have to do some editing to Avira's default config to make its popup notifications go away, though. WHAT ? avg far behind? why? link? That IS the link. Go to main tests. I was going to link straight to the PDF, but "Please link only to our main site www.av-comparatives.org." :D I'm nice. On-demand is the manually run scan, Proactive is the auto-protect. Avira's at the top of both. Full scans as of 2/09 - I skipped some of the other lesser-known names, but there are many more on the test itself: G-Data @ 99.8% Avira @ 99.7% McAfee @ 99.1% Symantec @ 98.7% Avast @ 98.2% NOD32 @ 97.6% Kapersky @ 97.1% AVG @ 93.0% They still handed the overall nod to NOD32 and Kapersky (and Symantec/McAfee, actually), because although they missed a few % compared to a few higher guys, they also had far less false positives than the others. The auto-protect stuff is far lower % hit rate, but Avira's still at the top by a solid margin. And again, NOD32 and Kapersky still got the top spot overall because they had almost no false positives compared to everybody else: Avira @ 69% NOD32 @ 56% Kapersky @ 50% AVG @ 45% Avast! @ 42% Symantec @ 35% McAfee @ 25%[QUOTE="metaltoiletry"]

[QUOTE="RobboElRobbo"]Avast, just re install it when trial runs out :PamirzaimOk, if your avast! antivirus software trial runs out, why don't you just register it first to get the license key if you want to continue using this software? You can do that? Lmao I never bothered because I thought you would have to pay for a license key
I guess Avira, whatever that is. Anyways, I'd definitely not go with free anti-virus apps. They just don't do the job as good as a pay app like Kaspersky.which is best?

If your product almost expired, just go to avast website and re-register the avast product. Then you will get the new license key within 24 hours. After that, you simply copy the license key from the e-mail and paste it on the registration box while avast is performing a memory scan.
