I used to keep Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield around specifically to play the peaks map on lone wolf mode. Excellent sniping, prowling around a large open map in full camo and taking headshots. I recently loaded it up again, and its finally getting just too dated. I'm looking for a single player game with a similar experience. It doesnt have to be a pure sniper game, just something with some good sniping maps that I can load up and play whenever. Any suggestions?

True but sniper elite is dated as now and that's TCs gripe with raven shield. While GW doesn't have open maps, it's still a pretty good experience just for sniping.

What sniping? I grabbed assault rifles and started shooting stuff. Hell at the later levels you take the role of a grunt. Damn this game has corridor like maps.

sniper: ghost warrior isnt realistic sniping but its very fun sniping and the MP is every so satisfying for sniping if your into that sort of thing..
yes its true its mroe a sniping based videogame than a snipe sim but it would also prepare you for ghost warrior 2 which promises things like bigger maps, better visuals, more rifles, mroe complex sniping mechanics(bullet drop come to mind), etc.

Hmmmmm choices choices Well I will admit that crysis had some pretty fun sniping, but you can't single player outside the campaign... I don't think anything but your original game matches what you want :( might suggest it to a few game developers :D
