Overall Voice Acting is all ill say.

Bioware always uses great actors for voice work in everygame they have made,

So does Ubisoft, You can't really pick one.

Voice Acting has become an actual gaming profession now. so many studio's will not settle for crap anymore

I thought Mass Effect had some pretty good voice acting and the Witcher did to.

Gordon Freeman.

Seriously though, I'd say Mass Effect had some great voice acting, as well as Half-Life 2 (Alyx).

GTA: Vice City does have some great voice acting, but that's due to it featuring actual well known actors......

I'd go all the way back to Jon St. John and Duke Nukem 3D though otherwise ;)

First Redisent Evil. If you can't do it well, do it so bad that it's hilarious. Favorite voice acting ever. After that, probably KOTOR for Mission and Malek and some others.

The evil robot from KoTOR1 and 2. Hands down the BEST voice acting EVER, in ANY game. That character cracks me up so much I keep him in my party just for kicks when I'm playing. Unfortunately, I forgot his name... forgive me KoTOR fans, it's been a while... TBH I think that KoTOR1/2's voice acting in general was the best voice acting I've heard in any game (including alien voices!)

Next I would say Riddick, from Riddick's only game... But I guess that wasn't much for a challenge for Van Diesel (sp?)

Sam Fisher was also pretty good.

I'm sure there are others, but these are the first characers that pop up in my mind....

HalfLife2 had some great voice acting but its a pity everyone was American (except Father Grigori) even though the game was mean't to be set in Eastern Europe it lacked diversity.

The Witcher on the other hand had amazing voice acting with a huge diversity in dialects and nationalities. Although i admit some of the dialogue was a little strange but the actual voice acting more than made up for it.

All valve games since half life 2. The witcher was great too because not only did it have ALOT of dialogue, it also had good voice acting. But i would say glados from portal takes the cake.

I liked the voice acting in that game from what i watched in videos, it seemed pretty solid and the voices suited the characters.

I would have to go with Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. VV, Smiling Jack, Damsel, Officer Chunk, Prince LaCroix, Nines Rodriguez, Jeanette and Therese Voreman, Bertram Tung, Gary Golden, Ming Xiao, Heather Poe, Maximillian Strauss... they are all superbly done and all help further immerse you the player into the already quite believable world.

jk. half-life 2 series. recently, i've been playing vampire; it's got pretty good voice acting as well - colorful, at the very least.

I could name probably 10 pretty good voice acting games

But since the end of episode 2, that seems clearly the winner.

Halflife 2
Deus Ex (it was Soap Opera-ish, but it was good and entertaining)
KOTOR (except for Carth Onasi, whine whine whine...)
Neverwinter Nights games
Oh and all the Jedi Knight games were pretty sweet, even back when it was called Dark Forces.

Agreed. The voice acting in Bloodlines is great stuff.

While I thought NWN2 had its moments (Khelgar specifically comes to mind as putting on some good performances) and of course HL2 is kind of a given, overall Bloodlines has to be tops. The voice actors just did an awesome job of bringing a lot of personality to the characters in the game.

5. Max / Max Payne series

Those are my top two for the PC. Ace Combat 5 gets my nomination for voice acting on a console game.

You're joking right? The voice acting in NwN 2 was terrible, especially Neeshka's

The best voice acting is in the Metal Gear series

Best voice actor: David Hayter ( Snake - Metal Gear series ) a person that doesn't love his voice doesn't exist

Also every LucasArts adventure game has great voice acting

BioWare's games usually have great voice acting

All Valve games.

I'd say ::: Half-life 2 Episode 2 (the fear and stress is in eveyone speechs) Portal (glados is fantastic)

Beyond Good & Evil and Psychonauts (those two feel like watching a movie, so much style and quality)

I just remembered a horrible line in Silent Hill 3 "Shut your stinking mouth, bitc*!"

I've always thought the male elf VA in Oblivion did a spectacular job. He's probably my favorite. His voice is just generally easy to listen to for some reason (Adoring Fan notwithstanding :P), and he does inflection, emotion, and shouting (like in angriness or insanity) very well.

Nah, Bojangles has this unusual fantasy about cooking dinner for Alyx on a date and "treating her right," if I remember how he put it correctly. Wouldn't really be treating her right if he also had feelings for some rambunctious bimbo, now would he?

Can ol' man Bojangles please confirm this though: you actually had a fantasy about having dinner with Alyx?! I like the hear the rest of that story boyo!! What would you make her? I cant say I know Alyx's favourite meal....Lara on the other hand....ahem yes well we're not hear to discuss who I've had dinner with lately....ahem....yeesh...

Someof my favourite voice acting was in Fallout. For a game that is over 10 years old, the voice acting beats that of most modern games. Also a top game all around.

Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Torment had NO voice acting, only a few lines, it was all text (that's what I most dislike about them and why they can never be in my TOP5 RPGs)

1 - The Longest Journey

2 - Grim Fandango

3 - The Curse of Monkey Island

can't think of many other games with the same level of quality. Perhaps Oblivion.

I've yet to be impressed. Oddly though, Two Worlds has some of the best and worst I've ever heard.
