Best gaming mousepad for the Razer DeathAdder?

So i recently bought a new PC, everything was hunky dory apart from the mouse/mousepad i was using with my old PC and im still using (i bought a base only PC). When playing counterstrike my mouse seemed to stutter across the screen which made it unplayable and i was getting shot to s*** by these ppl playing with deathadders....i got jealous and bought one.

My deathadder is on its way and i am currently using a Microsoft Wireless Optical 2000 with a hard topped 'Allsop' mousepad. Or at least i was until it decided to stop working a few days ago with my mouse and now i am using a large bit of foam that came with my Vista Oem package, the foam btw makes an amazing mousepad! I almost dont need the deathadder now plus its so confortable lol

But i want to know what mousepad should i get? How do the mice react with hard topped mousepads? Is a cloth or a hardtopped pad better??

Optical mice really do not even need a pad.

As long as your surface is relatively smooth (a little texture helps) and not reflective (like a high polished surface) you should not need a pad. When I don't have a surface that meets those requirements, I actually use the back of a vinyl notebook, the kind that has just a legal pad and one pocket inside, not the 3-ringed kind, it works perfectly for it, and has a large surface for it as well.

The biggest thing to remember with optical mice is that patterns can effect the way the mouse operates, it will get "confused" if it goes from a light shade to a dark shade etc... and cause the cursor to "jump" across the screen, the same as when dust gets stuck on the lens of the mouse.

As far as the pads go, use what you like to use, although the foam rubber that you like can probably collect more dirt (and sweat if you're a hard core gamer) than a normal mouse pad will, depending on the density of the foam, and whether or not it is a closed or open cell type foam.
