I'm a big fan of Orcs Must Die!
Actually also did a little review of it in my site:

Some very good pacing in that game I think. Dungeon Defenders doesn't quite hit the right spot for me
Hmm I haven't played many, but I have played a couple, There are still some that I really want to play. Two Sales coming this year (one is only 2 weeks away) will prolly get a couple then!
But out of what I have played so far.
I would say Bastion. It had good story, great narration, fantastic music (easily my favorite soundtrack from a game in 2011), the atmosphere of the game was pretty unique and refreshing.
Can Minecraft still be classed as an indie game? The 'Mojang' publisher that they made surley now means it's not an indie game.

HyperWarlock
Mojang is the name of the development studio they made, they still self publish so they are still indie.
My favorite Indie this year was Frozen Synapse.
Bastion by far ... then there is Terraria, UNepic, Dungeon defenders, The binding of Isaac, Hard Reset, Frozen Synapse ... all of these games are good, it's hard to decide the best indie game for this year, not to mention that december is around the corner and who knows what might be hiding around there ...
Mine is EYE: Divine Cybermancy :D. Defiantly on my top five games list, if not #1. I'm so glad I switch to PC.
I haven't purchased an indie game for myself... but I did buy the HumbleBundle for my sister's Mac . I was thinking going solely indie for one whole year... but Diablo 3 might be released next year, so I don't think I can commit.
Err... on second though, actually, I did get The Universe Sandbox - but that's more of a tool than a game.
It had nearly a 10 million dollar budget, has publishers, and is one of the best known games in Poland. Don't really see how it's an indie game. At the time CD Projekt red had no publishers, which would be the definition of indie, not having a publisher.[QUOTE="IxX3xil3d0n3XxI"]I believe Witcher 2 still counts as indie. Definitely my vote there. cain006

Same here, EYE is the awesome sause of Stalker, Deus Ex, Hellgate London all rolled into one. No game surprised me more in the last 5 years than EYE, and that's a good thing.
1. Minecraft
Jacanuk
Since we're talking about games that have been playable since 2009, I'll go ahead and say ArmA 2. Before you say it's not an indie dev, they technically are.

They are part of cdProject Red or was it CDproject anyone one of them is the mother company that throw money at them. They are publishers for poland and a few regions around them large also if i remember correctly (in those regions). But tbh i would not class TW2 as a indie game.[QUOTE="IxX3xil3d0n3XxI"]I believe Witcher 2 still counts as indie. Definitely my vote there. IxX3xil3d0n3XxI
SpaceChem. Such an awesome puzzle game.

This. Steam says I've put in 80hrs into it and I'm about halfway. Need to start playing again. :) Not for everyone though. Bastion and Torchlight were pretty good and I've yet to play Amnesia. When I built my PC 12 months ago, little did I realize I would be playing more indie and less AAA titles. :)
[QUOTE="rzepak"]Minecraft or Binding of Isaac. I think Id go with Isaac. 60h played and its still awesome.Elann2008Really? Holy hell. I thought it was good, but not THAT good. It's pretty fun, but apparently it's dumbed down compared to most "real" roguelike games.

Well it is in the sense that it's not turned based with all those rules. It's like a mashup of legend of zelda with roguelike elements such as randomness and permadeath (no saving). I love it too! XD
Bastion is one of my GOTY candidates, so I'd have to say that :P . This year has been fantastic for indies and there are ton of games worth mentioning.
