What is the best LCD monitor for gaming?

I've been looking at LCDs and it seems that all LCDs have at least some detectable level of light bleeding on a black screen (where the backlights show through at the edges of the screen). Is there an LCD out there that has 2ms response time, over 1000:1 contrast ratio, and does not have any light bleeding whatsoever?

actually monitors now adays shouldnt have backlight bleed and yet they do which is unacceptable this is what happens when you get uninformed casuals buying monitors of low quality which makes those who make them continue as they still get a profit. im pretty sure the 226bw has gotten many reviews saying it doesnt have backlight bleed now either all this guys got extremly lucky or were paid off because iv had 3 of this monitor with horrible backlight bleed.

Exactly, I actually researched the LG L1960TR before buying it and it got great industry and user reviews and not one of those reviews mentioned how the damn thing had one inch of light bleed at the top and bottom of the screen. I don't see how any of the industry reviews could have missed that as they usually do in-depth tests involving color, light, and contrast.

So I took the LG back to the store and went and had a closer look at the rest of the LCDs and ALL of them had light bleed. I went to another store and had a look, yet again they all had light bleed. Indeed, I am lead to believe that LCDs are made to bait casuals as their quality varies too greatly for tech savvy people to really be able to accept them.

It's hard to say, since you cannot tell this by the specs. What size are you looking for?

I used to have a viewsonic va912b, which was 8ms. I loved it, but it started to break, so viewsonic replaced my monitor with a VX924 which is waaaay better. I thought it wasn't going to make much of a difference, but it looks soo much better (3ms response, higher contrast ratio, etc) I am afraid I will never be able to save money on a monitor ever again :(

I have an LG Flatron. 4 ms response time, 1400:1 contrast ratio. The F-engine on it is cool, especially when running games with great visuals, you can put it on the "movie setting" and its wonderful. I do it on M2TW all the time.
