I have no clue why people like wow so much.
-For one the graphics suck
-Two the community sucks, alot of 13 year olds all proud their playing a mmorpg
-Three it's just a grind no matter what level you are
-Four Pvp was ruined in the expansion for lack of epic pvp items
-Four It sucks.
I say go with lotro

MadeInLlamaLand
IagreewithMadeInLlamaLand except for the lotro part. I played almost all MMOs on the market, you name it, and the all suck, somemorethanothers, it's all repetative action over and over again wheither it's click click or tap tap + they are all super addictive. I say don't get tied to one game, but that's just my opinion.

I second that. RO was my all around favorite out of all the MMO's I've played, which was practically everything. Second was WOW before the expansion, and that's mostly because of it's high mindless fun factor. FFXI and EVE are definitely the two most complex MMO's out there and will hook you for the long haul.
Oh, and Guild Wars isn't an MMO btw, so it doesn't count. Phantasy Star Universe isn't an MMO either. Just because a game is online doesn't make it an MMO.

I agree. I've also played practically every MMO out there and they are all grindfests. It just differs on what you are grinding, and some just s**k more than others. Plus, they are all designed to be super addictive, which is bad. MMO's are drugs not games.
My top 3
1. Ultima Online - Completely Original
2. Dark Age of Camelot -Realm vs Realm = best PvP ever!
3. WoW -Could have won but the PvP (i.e. Battlegrounds) is uninspiredand dull.

Never played Ultima but I'd have to agree with what you said otherwise. Despite every realm having different classes, they balanced that game very well and gear wasn't that much of a factor. YourRealm Rank (experience) mattered more with the Realm abilities and those were accessible by everyone if you put in the RvR time.Until ToA...then it all went to crap exactly like the route WoW took. Don't devs look at other games when they build expansions and see what worked and didn't work?
what is it called again ... the best competitor to WoW
i'm not sure but it's might be closed to this : Lineage 2
w/e is the actual name ... it has about the same ammout as subscribers as WoW .... it probably just didn't had the same big publicity
inform you more ... there are planty of MMORPG .... classify them in categories for PvE / PvP and all kind of gameplay experience you are looking for
EVE Online.
And Guild Wars isn't an MMOG. If you do consider it and MMOG you'd have to consider games like Diablo, Neverwinter Nights, Titan Quest, etc. to be MMOGs as well.
In the end I had more fun with Guild Wars then WoW.. though Guild Wars isn't a mmo it still is a strictly online game where you run by thousnads of people in town.. I found WoW end game both pvp and pve turned into suckage of grinding for the smallest amount of improvement possible.. Where gear>>>> character Build/class>> Skill. In the end I found that gear had the most overbearing then their build then actual skill involved.Having played in numerous servers it turned to the pointwhere the best pvpers and pvers were the people who played ENTIRELY too much.
Now I understand this is fine for pve but this for me is unacceptable for pvp, and turns competition into another grind fest.
The community is also one of the worse I have ever seen.
WoW is the greatest MMO and will go down in history as the greatest MMO. Game developers are trying to make games just like it but none of them succed, no game will ever be like it.EricTheJimmy
WoW is just an Everquest clone. Admittedly a highly polised clone, but a clone none-the-less. And there are plenty of other games like EQ and WoW, just not as well made as WoW.

- It goes for a more artsy (cartoony I suppose look) look. Sorry, graphics hore's might want to try something else, as this is for gameplay.
- Personal Opinion I guess. Hanging out in barrens to much?
- Im beginning to think you dont have a character above 30. Though even to 30, you dont need to grind at all:roll:. The only thing i'd consider a grind is farming mats for tailoring, or grinding a certain factions rep, & only if you decide thats what you want to do, though that is mainly for 70, so I dont know what you are going on about.
- This made my laugh. Theres this thing called arena.. Or did you mean to say you couldnt keep your rating high enough to earn arena points, therefore, *you* have a lack of PvP epics.
- Noob. Need I say more?
If you agree with what MadeInLlamaLand has said, then yes, please go to Lotro.
