Most Memorable goes to The Nameless One's quote of "Updated my journal" because by the time you finish Torment, it will be burned into your mind from the quarter of a million times it is played.
Quick addendum: I thought I should clarify my reasoning that the phrase counts as a Sound Effect in that it is used in sound effect fashion. In this case, it is played whenever something happens, whether it is story advancement, receiving a new quest, turning a corner, taking a dump, etc.
I almost forgot about an awesome moment I had while playing a Zombie mod in Counter Strike Source.
It was on de_dust2 and the server had the whole map in a thick fog, so it was really spooky already. I was camping/hiding from all of the zombies running around. It was dead quiet. All of a sudden in the background there was a sound that the Tripods in War of the Worlds made. I freaked out and screamed, it was so scary. I had the lights off in the room so it was really scary.
well its technically a sound effect but its more of a voice snippet.
when ure the mercs in giants and u or ure buddy gets killed they shout "OOH ME LEGS!!". i remember hearing that the first time and breaking my crap laughing. they way he says it is brilliant and its unexpected.
if were not counting that then lara croft breaking her leg from a high jump in tomb raider 1. that really unnerved me as a kid for some reason :S.

Lol, that's true. I could hear the sound in my mind the minute I read "updated my journal" .
The BFG takes the prize here (specially if you kill a Revenant, the sound of crackling bones is excellent).
The other great sound effect that comes to my mind is the PPC from MW2-MW3
The sound made by Murlocs in Worlds of Warcraft. ArmedWolf001
ARGH! The horror!
I'm not really sure what to say. I'll just go ahead and say the sound of those Goblin/Gremlin/Orc thingies dying in Diablo 1 and 2. I'll recognize that anywhere. :P
the sound made by that siren thing in Hl2 and originally in hl1,
when playing multiplayer and someone presses the button that nukes the whole place and you have a certain amount of time to get inside the base while the siren goes off. Most memorable sound to me.
The sound of the Spas shotgun andUMP 45in Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear and the modified sniper shotgun made by the BSW Smurf mod.
The "roar" sound effect when a large group of troops clashed in Stronghold. Also the sound of someone drowning when you click on a dunking stool in Stronghold. Sound coordinator Rob Euvino told me he held his girlfriend's head under water (voluntarily)and recorded her screaming (again, voluntarily).
The general abient sailing noises in the first Sea Dogs. Other than that the game sucked.
My #1 all time favorite is the myriad of ambient combat noises in Medieval: Total War II when a big siege battle REALLY heats up.
got two. First off i'm a computer gamer, was in x-pro ranked on the tiberian sun ladder. Most memorable sound was when ever a plane flew over the firewall while it was activated and instead of explosions the sound was "oops". One oops for every one of the 14 planes that would fly over the firewall within a period of 3 seconds, and it creates pretty much a sound glitch on my computer. But that comes to memory the most. Also all the sounds in planetside come to memory very quickly as soon as i hear them.
And all though Halo is a colsole game and this really isnt a sound. The halo theme song isa great song and that is very engraved in my memory, not only the theme song but all the music and sounds in that game are very memorable and add to an already great game.

Man I hate you. Now that's burned me...I'm tormented.
Another sound I like is Quake 2 shotgun. The best shoutgun sound ever.
The scream of the gatling laser from fallout. (Not from fallout 2 as it was much less effective)
The sound a body makes in all of the unreal games when it gibs.
"ForthehammerofMorradin"InBaldursGate
And the best game sound ever is : " WOOOOOOOOPY!!!!" in Mortal Kombat 3Please Log In to post.
