As to the topic, that depends on what you're into. If you like RPGs then I'd recommend the Shadowrun series.

I don't know how it turns out, but I started playing through The Swapper recently and I'm liking it a lot so far. Could check out The Solus Project as well for a very different survival game experience

He is right though. The Binding of Isaac is easily one of the best indie games of all time, by far. I have over 500 hours in it and it's still as fun as ever.

Black Mesa (fan made remake of original Half Life. Not sure if it counts as an indie game, but it's amazing)

To the Moon (less of a game and more of an interactive story, but damn it's good)

As mentioned, The Binding of Issac is a great game. Rimworld, also great albeit a bit pricey, but worth it. Also Terraria, Starbound, Prison Architect. So many...
