one factor that specializes a game is the soundtracks.without a good soundtrack you can't get in to the atmosphere of the game...

which games sound track do you like the most? by the way my favorite ones are devil may cry 3&4,total overdoes and world of goo...

Gotta say Baldur's Gate 1&2. Pure nostalgia. Homeworld had some pretty decent music too. A bit too ambient and subtle for space battles though.

Homeworld sticks out in my mind. The games within the Red Alert series also have great sound tracks.

Red Faction Guerrilla has a nice soundtrack. Cheesy electronic music like in Terminator or Total Recall, orchestral, drum'n'bass... Pretty cool!

Witcher was great. Beyond Good and Evil is great too. Also, I think WoW had some really good tracks in some of the zones.

Jesper Kyd is a beast.

Also, I particularly enjoyed the original Tropico's soundtrack. Very atmospheric and fit the game to a T.

I really like HL2's sound track, not so much for the music but the perrrrrfect timing at when music occurs. It enhances the experience so much.

boils down to 2 games for me

  • Diablo (original)
  • Quake (original)

I'll give the edge to Quake and Trent Reznor's soundtrack, absolutely perfect for the creepy, demonic atmosphere of the game.

dos4gw82

Yup.

ooooooooooh ho ho ho man that takes me back.

*sigh*

why did I have to leave that CD at my parents' place.

That song is good, and I really like the song from the second mission, with the raiders...it had a real tribal kinda sound.

Ahhh found it, this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdpFM3hStxM&feature=related

and, of course, the Adagio for Strings was so suiting for when your people were being burned.

And this one reminds me of one of Bjorks songs at 1:30

This is a complete shot into the dark but i'm about to copy/paste this post in 50 other forums and hope for the best. I've been in a cold chase after this soundtrack for the last 10 or so years, fishing for any clues on how to find it. I've watched the web evolve around this elaborate search and had gotten closer and closer as yahoo changed to google but I never hit bullseye. The soundtrack I'm looking for is amazing, it's an orchestral action piece (most likely not MIDI) which i think accidently found it's way to a PC game.... It may have been composed for the game but i doubt it. I'm 95% sure the game was a submarine simulator (it may have been an aircraft carrier). I remember putting the CD in the tray and letting the music roll in the background while playing Worms, so this dates the simulator to around 1994-1998. If anybody has any idea what i'm talking about please help. I've already been through Youtube listening to the thin selection of sub sims soundtracks available. Been to www.laurasmidiheaven.com too to try my luck but to no avail. If you know what I'm talking about you're a lucky man and if you forgot and i made you remember it again through this forum then we both gain from it. Thanks, Tom.
