Best WRPG this gen

What do you think is the best WRPG this generation and why?

DA:O is mine.

Personally, I think it'd be a tough call between The Witcher and Mask of the Betrayer. They're both dark, unique and deep - possibly moreso than any other WRPGs this gen - and that's what I like.

*edit* And in terms of roleplaying alone, Alpha Protocol would definitely be up there too.

I agree Mass Effect 2 was a better GAME than Dragon Age: Origins....I just don't really consider it that much of an RPG.

while mass effect 2 is probably my fav game of this gen, i consicider it an action game with some rpg elements, so il say DA: O, might change my mind after i play the witcher

Well, if people don't consider ME2 an RPG, then it's The Witcher for me too

I dont really consider ME2 a total rpg, its a shooter and rpg mixed.

Probably a reference to current console generation (yes, i know this is the PC board). So, from 2005-2006 until now.

Till now DA:O and The Witcher.

Till this generation ends - arrival of new consoles - The Witcher 2 and Diablo 3.

the best "newer" CRPG overall == NWN2-> MotB (the OC included)

the best unconventional RPG == Alpha Protocol

yeah, the OP is talking about the best WRPG, and he just went ahead to list the best RPGs in his mind, and one of them is JRPG + console exclusive...what shall we do??

This, plus Mask of the Betrayer. Especially when you're considering the ROLE-PLAYING aspect of the game.

For combat goodness and lighter roleplaying, Mass Effect series and DA:O comes to mind.
