No real game breaking bugs here...Nor quest breaking bugs. I spotted some minor, but there were a lot of those in Oblivion and Fallout 3 too. It's the engine, plus the games are too complex. This isn't some linear shooter, there are thousands of lines here for every NPC behavior.GeneralShowzer

Yeah, I've experienced very few problems. The only thing I've really noticed in my 33 hours of playing is a few glitches; flying cowss and some desert creatures swimming in rocks when you're exploring the wilderness. They're not game-breaking...just goofy.

It sucks that some people are having problems with this game. Fortunately, I am not one of them. I had a problem with FO3 when it first came out a couple of years ago where I couldn't even get the game to start. I kept getting CTD errors left and right. I understand the frustration of a product not working like it should directly out of the box. I also understand that gaming on pc means that the user has to be more attentive as to their system's structure, as there are more factors that come into play. For example, "Is your OS up to date? GPU drivers up to date? Are there conflicting video/audio codecs installed on your system?"

no bugs or crashes here but im only about 4 hours in. slightly disappointed with the so called deeper rpg elements the game supposedly has over f3, any changes ive noticed have been subtle at best

Macutchi
same. people here saying they hated FO3 but love this game??????????/ NV is the better game IMO, but the games are so close in gameplay, that I just cant see someone who hated FO3 loving this, because they are the same game with a different story. Its like hating gears 1 and loving gears 2

I haven't had any real problems with it. Honestly, if you can't handle the bugs, then you really shouldn't be playing computer RPGs, period.

Strange I get bugs all the time, it seems like every time I level it wants to CTD. Luckly I save very often but just now it took 5 CTD for it to make it past the level up screen. Then it went on and didnt crash for 2 more hrs. I have been one of the unlucky ones with this game. Still it is not bad enough for me not to enjoy it, but it gets very annoying sometimes.

Besides a few oddities in physics and getting stuck on a box on occasion, I haven't had any problems with this game yet.

I'm honestly having a massive amount of performance issues with the game, despite the fact that I can completely run it, and even when I cranked Fallout 3 to the max, it was fine, and this game is basically the same thing but it hates running...period. I've had it crash on me about 4 times in 20 hours of game play, lock up on me twice, but the real thing that annoys me is that during certain parts of the game, I am lucky to get 35 FPS, when I can easily get 60+ on FO3. I know that NV requires a little more, but not so much that my system can't handle it. Don't get me wrong, I don't have that great of a computer, I know that for sure, I'm at the bottom end these days, but I have what NV requires and more.

Any developer that gets in bed with Obsidian should be ashamed of themselves.

[QUOTE="Animatronic64"]

[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]............Are we seriously surprised with this? Obsidian's Neverwinter Nights 2 game was released at a near unplayable state years back, where the game dragged every system down to a crawl in fps... And there were countless game stopping bugs.. (My personal favorite was the Monk monastery quest that forced me to restart the entire game over again due to it eating plot items).sSubZerOo

The point is that this isn't acceptable. I do not pay these people to release buggy, unfinished, products. In my opinion, Obisidian should have spent a couple of months sorting out the glitches before releasing it. They clearly didn't do a good job of it.

Yet again based on their track record this was expected.. The only thing is you shouldn't have bought the game to begin with.. Obsidian is shameless in doing this.

All i have to say is in those quotes. Summary : Obsidian has a terrible track record of shameshly buggy games and this one is yet another as i have predicted ;) I TOLD YOU SO!!!

Why are you so proud of this? I have seen you post this in many threads, what do you like about being right about bugs in a other wise fantastic game? In all honesty, its not like the engine has not had problems for years, so predicting this is not really that remarkable.

It's a buggy engine, yes. It's also a pretty complex game, so it's natural for there to be some bugs on release. I have no idea why you expected a completely polished experience. Have you never played RPG's of this kind? Most big RPG's in recent memory were released in a buggy state. It just comes with the territory.

If you find you can't play at all just give it a rest for a while and wait for a couple more patches. Also, try re-installing, cleaning your HD, defragging, installing new video drivers, etc. Sometimes that helps.

Well it more complicated than that. Lets just say that even when i am right, people like to say i am wrong. So even now that i am undeniably right and i talk about facts and obsidians track record. People like to deny all these and the history of buggy games. So even that not so remarkable prediction is denied for the sake of fanboyizm. As for "otherwise fantastic game"? No not at all fallout 3 was 10 times better and so has kevin V said it to be true.

Didnt buy it myself, just from the videos it looked like the same old ass engine with muddy textures and strange lookin faces. Oblivion also seemed to run and load like crap on my PC even though I should be able to run it 5 times over so I havent bothered with another Bethesda game on PC since.

Pretty much this, most of the bugs I've found in this game I've also found in Oblivion and Fallout 3. NV is consistent with the Gamebryo engine.

Every game has bugs within them, so your prediction isn't anything remarkable. It's just a matter of how much those bugs annoy a person to a point to dislike the game.

^That has to be the most uninformed answer i have ever seen  Do you seriously generalize every game with the buginess of gamebryo engine and the terrible bug mess product track of obsidian with "every game has bugs"? Because let me tell you, its definetly NOT in the same level. Oh and if my prediction is sooo simple then how come most people denied it will happen?

Its pathetic when the games dev's patches dont work and modders patches do. Its inexcusable to release a game in such a poor condition. Granted I love FO:NV, but no "oh its bethesda" doesnt cut it

Broken?
Ive sunk 97 hours into the game and only just now ran into a glitch that I cant work around.

Hardly Broken.

Edit* Scratch that, I CAN work around it, but I refuse to take another path besides the most righteous one =C

People deny it because they haven't experienced problems that would be enough to detract their experience with the game. It's that simple. People will relate to what they've actually experienced, not what some random poster on a forum says. On that note, I can look at forums of many games and see plenty of thread topics of individuals talking about bugs they've found. I can do exactly what you've been doing by going to those threads and saying the same crap. It's not hard to do. And yes, there are definitely worse than Gamebryo out there. Metro 2033 doesn't even start on my computer. So I can surely say that New Vegas is better than the shoveled out crap that is Metro based on experience. Sure, some games have more issues than others, but my point is, I can visit any thread about bugs and a specific game and say the same junk.

Point is that when reviews REPETEADLY says its very buggy, then it is a fact its a buggy game. As for metro 2033, usual issue, i got another that it crashes on a specific level, it varies from user to user, i had to use a savegame.

I've played maybe 30 hours or so and have only experienced one crash and a few quest bugs. But seriously, the game is such a hugely positive experience (in terms of quality) that the few bugs don't even bother me. No one is ever going to release a perfect game. Just consider yourself lucky that you're playing it on PC and not on a console where the options to fix your game through 3rd party patches/mods is completely limited.

I just finished Vault 11, the one where no one wanted to be Overseer..It was the highpoint of what I've completed so far. I've never seen storytelling so powerful and sublime in Fallout 3 or a Bioware game.

I'm over 40 hours in, no real problems. It's definitely a lot more stable than Fallout 3 was at launch. And to be fair, what RPGs launch without huge bugs? Even the most polished ones have some pretty annoying showstoppers (like ME2's ramp problem, where I repeatedly got stuck floating in the air on several missions).

Fair enough, but internetz seems to make a huge deal out of it and not with oblivion and FO3 (i mean in reviews) and since that happens in obsidian games, lets just say i am willing to believe all those reviewers saying its too damn buggy.

So you telling me the only reason the reviews care about bugs is because the console versions are suprisingly pretty buggy too this time as opossed to usually pc having more possible bugs to deal with? Never thought it that way... i am gonna give up now. You are right, that is clearly the reason, game reviews nowadays are clearly console focused. The bugs are a big deal in the consoles not pc.

The game is amazing, and has no more bugs then Fallout3 or Oblivion did on release. You would know this if you actualyl played the game. Instead you talk abotu "OMG I CALLED IT! I CALLED IT!" without playing the game. You called nothing, just makign yourself look bad. The console versions have tons of issues, the PC version though does not. Played 20+ hours on both xbox360 and PC version myself and the difference is HUGE, yet you are talking like you have played the game. People would actaully respect your opinion if you played gaems before you trashed them, you have done this with tons of games .

As one review said "I would rather have a gem of a game with some issues (like New Vegas) then a well polished turd (like Modern Warfare2)"

On Windows, you can go into the nVvidia control panel and set the power management features from auto to "max performance" and that takes care of stuttering and other graphics issues, so if you're playing it in your Vista partition, try that out. To anyone havig crashes, try verifying the file integrity in Steam. It replaced a file for me, and no crash yet since I did that.

People would actaully respect your opinion if you played gaems before you trashed them, you have done this with tons of games .

As one review said "I would rather have a gem of a game with some issues (like New Vegas) then a well polished turd (like Modern Warfare2)"

because your individual experience typifies the global experience of gamers worldwide with the product, solid logic, no bugs for you therefore nobody experiences bugs therefore they should stop complaining

[QUOTE="dakan45"] Fair enough, but internetz seems to make a huge deal out of it and not with oblivion and FO3 (i mean in reviews) and since that happens in obsidian games, lets just say i am willing to believe all those reviewers saying its too damn buggy.dakan45

they make a deal out of it because the reviews generally cater to console players which have more problems

What i meant was, unless the reviewer is a pc based one, they will cater to console players because that is where the market is at. The PC version has less bugs...honestly i havnt run into any. From what i know though the console versions have a lot of bugs that are game breaking.

I've only had 1 crash and that was 14 hours into the game. No bugs.

robokill

so, let's be logical: when some people have encountered just some minor glitches, yet others meet huge cracks when playing the game; the game is the very same Fallout: New Vegas, and thus a constant, the effective varible must be something else than the game itself. in PC gaming, it's oftentime the various system configuration and the condition of gamers' PCs. if you are very bad at keeping your PC clean, you more likely will run into "bugs" that others don't know about.

generally speaking, F:NV has less gitches than Fallout 3, at least you don't need to do a ini fix to make the game quad-core friendly.

personally, I'd say I have to thank Bethesda because they let Obsidian rather than themelves to develop F:NV, which is a worthy successor to original Fallouts.

The best rpg on the pc is a fps, its called deus ex, theres nothing wrong with FPS, fallout fanboys just cant seem to grasp any sort of change.

it takes certain degree of fanboyism to claim any game as the best of a genre. especially when we have Torment, BG2, original Fallouts, VtMB and such in the RPG realm. I have to admit that I'm a Torment fanboy.

I myself don't mind the combat system change in Fallout 3; its fault is the overly simpifying of role-playing and disregarding of original Fallout lore. F:NV on the other hand, not only delivers more satisfaying role-playing experience, but also captures the original lore adquately; the wasteland finally is a dangerous place to roam about.

First of all, I disagree that Deus Ex is the best PC RPG of all-time. Thats your opinion so don't try and state it as some sort of explicit fact. Secondly, defending Fallout as an FPS isn't any less fanboy-ish than detracting from it for the same reason. Forum trolls just cant seem to grasp any sort of difference of opinion.

And it wasn't just the change in perspective that irked a lot of longtime Fallout fans. FO:3 completely missed the mark on the atmosphere, lore, role-playing, etc. that made Fallout great.

At least NV, while definitely not perfect, recaptures a lot of the spirit that made the original games so wonderful (especially playing in hardcore mode). I know that I've personally talked my way out of a lot more situations (and used many more of my skills, other than simply shooting everything in the face, to solve quests) than I ever did in FO:3.

FO:3 was a FPS (and not a very good one at that) that included some very lite RPG elements whereas NV feels, at least from my perspective, a lot more like a RPG played from a first-person perspective.

Bethesda still owes Fallout fans an apology for Fallout 3 I have had no problems in NV and with more features from past Fallout games and other changes this is better than 3.
