Just love how they didn't release an SDK so they could release all these maps and charge instead of getting the community involved with an SDK, so they could make their own maps and mods. Funny thing is mods sell games, more people bought BF1942 for DC mod more than the original game, so many people bought HL so they could play CS. People bought UT04 for Red Orchestra and BF2 for Project reality and custom maps is what sold most FPS games out today, they even created a genre with DOTA.

This is why I wont support DICE, they're more interested in getting a cheap buck, rather than building a game for the community.

Zubinen

Valve makes their games with the Source game engine only and it's more/less the same with other games that get mod tools, however since BF3 uses licensed middleware we clearly knew we wouldn't be getting mods months before its release.

Well DICE made the engine...

I'd just rather play an online FPS where we can mod it to make it better and have community made maps that are actually fun, the standard BF3 maps are just bad apart from one or two and bored of them already.

I only just started playing like 2 days ago. I mainly just play metro conquest right now and its kind of gets screwed up no matter which side you play. Either the russian team just camps the top and you just bleed tickets cause your a flag down or sometimes the complete opposite happens and the russian team gets pushed way back into their start area and then its just spawn kill after spawn kill. last night i was playing and the US team drove us back into the deployment area, it was a 2000 ticket game and one guy on the US team was doing 230-20 or something like that cause most of the round he just sat there and picked off spawns with an SV98. It's the most reatrdedly designed spawn area, completely open due to the large windows and completely in sight of half a dozen sniper nests.

I am upset that there are no bots to play against like BF2. It would be nice to get used to a map and vehicles against bots before going online. I think if I remember correctly, BF2 bots came later on, and they were horrendous at first. They are still terrible, but the point is, you can actually practice flying a heli or jet without taking 50 deaths to feel like you have a grasp on it.

Also, when the hackers seem rampant and the teams are all unbalanced on a particular night, it is relaxing to play against bots instead of smashing your keyboard and shaking your fist at DICE for the evening. Hehe.

The Enlighten middleware used for BF3's lighting solution was created by Geomerics...

Autobalance is up to the owner of the server, right?

Anyways, I agree with you on the cheap guns. The USAS-12 frag rounds drives me crazy.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the patch coming this week then, what with the frag12 ROF for USAS/MK3A1 being heavily nerfed and frag12 itself being nerfed. There definitely are a lot of hackers, I got into a lobby with a hacker that kept team switching, then suddenly another guy turns on his hacks so then we had two hackers team switching together, and then a third guy came on... Surreal... But this was on a poorly moderated server. Usually the guys that hack are at least more subtle about it.

The worst thing is, bf3 wont let my brother and I play online at the same time. It will kick whoever logged in first so the second person to join can play.

I had this issue with my wife when I first got her the game, then it magically fixed itself and works most of the time now. I know...weird...

My gripes are that it is dumbed down. Vanilla BF2 is much better and with PR, BF3 is just worthless.

MythPro1

Everybody always says PR.

PR IS SO GOOD GUYS, WHY CAN'T WE HAVE IT AGAIN.

Does anybody remember that DICE didn't actually make PR? They made BF2 which was also horribly flawed until about a year after launch. So quickly to forget. I guess people just forgot when they were padding their stats with the unkillable BF2 jets.

Yep. BF2 was pretty atrocious at launch and exceedingly unstable. It still is in certain respects.

So was BC2, I remember purchasing about year out thinking I'd avoid all the headaches and early problems. Not to say it wasn't a great game even early on...but it was extremely buggy for a while after launch.

You can spot them, and they will appear on your minimap, unless you are playing on a hardcore server. and they can be passed by crouching or going prone. Unlimted amount yes, but you can only have 2 placed at a time. As for rush, throw a nade near the capture chest, and you are most likely safe.

The USAS is overpowered, most because of the lack of recoil. according to patch, this will be increased as well as fewer pellets. So decreased damage.

1. I know some servers will split your party to balance the teams and some will not. 2. Not a lot of hackers that I've seen. 3. Yes, there are cheap and overpowered guns but what can you do? The M16A3 is unstoppable while the AEK is borderline. Nothing you can do but wait for the big patch. I almost never get blown up with explosive weapons but that's because I keep moving. 4. They made the lock on time longer on some rocket launchers. Just gotta hope for someone with a soflm to help you guys out. 5. Spawn killing only happens when the team is doing horribly in my time with the game. Unless of course, you play TDM.

Commander was useless 90% of the time anyways. Now's my turn to list it's improvements.

Jets aren't godly, WAY more customization, a better balance of maps (sure they're not all huge, but there are huge maps and smaller maps. there are maps for everyone), Hit detection is way better (IMO), Destructible environments, rewards for things like suppression, snipers aren't ridiculously cheap (no scope movement anyone?).

Too much ridiculous unlocks, the vanilla maps are horribly small and unbalanced for 64 players(tacking on two flags doesn't magically make a map balanced for 64 players. Having them clustered doesn't help either, they need to be spread out and repositioned.) The only semi-big map in BF3 is Gulf Of Oman. Sniping and quick scoping is piss easy in BF3. Hit detection IS NOT BETTER. So bending bullets means the hit detection is better? Little rewards are irrelavent. The only thing that should matter in a BF game is teamwork and winning the match.

Of course no VOIP and Mods sucks, but I can live with it because they made a lot of improvements. If anything, they gave the game more depth rather than dumb it down

When it comes to thinking, skill, and teamwork required, BF3 is dumbed down.

My biggest gripe though is with Jets. How the hell am I supposed to level up to get flares and missiles when it is next to impossible to survive without said flares and missiles? I just get shot out of the sky the first 30 seconds I go up. Maybe I just suck, but I find it pretty unfair.

lol at just saying "When it comes to thinking, skill, and teamwork required, BF3 is dumbed down." without any explanation as to why. If anything, they reward teamwork way more than BF2 did, so blame it on the players, not the game. And yes, hit detection is much better than it was in BF2, BF2 had awful hit detection. Not saying it is perfect though, no game's hit detection is. Also, all of the Karkand maps and Caspian Border are quite large, so I have no idea why you're b*tching about that. There are small and large maps, some peopel like smaller maps, deal with it.

we cant have it again because dice hasnt released any mod tools for bf3, and probably never will. and pr was good for a while, but then they kept tinkering with it to the point that it was no longer any fun. once they patched out rally points it really went downhill.

The only decent sized map in BF3 is Gulf of Oman. It's not that big either. So you want me to deal with every FPS being the same old generic bull ****? Lets see what BF2 did better: Functioning two channel VoIP(squad internal & leader channels) Functioning Commo Rose (The current one in BF3 is useless) Better squad order system Actual big maps with the ability to flank & no clustered flags REAL 64, 32, 16 player maps More maps More in depth Squad Management Commander position 6-man squads mod tools LAN No auto health regen/vehicle self repair Useful minimap with full terrain detail "TEAMWORK" and BF3 requires very little Any improvement in BF3 does not outweigh the above..

This is a large map: This a 24 player sized map with 2 flags tacked on to help fanboys believe they're really playing on a big 64 player map:

Have to say I used to hate them large maps, always played Karkand because the fighting was intense and short ranged. It's no fun having to travel across the map to die to have to do it again.

If you think Caspian Border is a small map then I have nothing to say. It is definitely big enough for 64 players, I think you're just trying to find things to b*tch about because you miss BF2.

Karkand was all about spamming grenades and complaining nobody dropped ammo because you'd spam grenades too fast to notice. People forget, the term "statpadding" was originally coined for BF2 in 2005 which is kind of sad since BF 1942 was actually pretty well designed for its time, but then game 2142 which is currently the best we've seen of the BF franchise design wise, balance wise the game was the best in the series despite some issues with late game unlocks, but I think by the end of 2012 BF3 could be just as good as BF 2142 balance wise. Speaking of BF3, there's going to be an announcement tomorrow regarding the release date for the "miracle patch" Curious to see what the changelog looks like now though: http://mp1st.com/2012/03/22/dice-will-reveal-patch-release-date-tomorrow-pc-patch-wont-come-sooner-and-more/

OK there big guy. You're being a bigger fanboy than I supposedly am. I loved BF2 and I like BF3. You're just trashing BF3 because of your BF2 fanboyism. BF3 isn't supposed to be the same as BF2, what did you want BF2 with prettier graphics? It's a new game, it's not supposed to mimic BF2, so grow up and get over it.

BF2 maps weren't as large as nostalgia leads one to believe, in BF2 movement was much slower for everything with the exception of jets, view distance was also very short, maps had low detail, and flags were spread apart whereas in BF3(even in for example the picture of Caspian Border) the flags are bunched together near the center of the maps.

Nope, I'm actually not a BF2 fanboy. I just wanted more of a BF game, instead I got a game that try's hard to mimic CoD and almost every other generic FPS.

Nope, I'm actually not a BF2 fanboy. I just wanted more of a BF game, instead I got a game that try's hard to mimic CoD and almost every other generic FPS.

Except that BF3 doesn't play like CoD at all.

I played CoD4 and that was my last CoD game. What am I a fanboy of anyways? I don't understand why you're calling me a fanboy. Because I like BF3? Very mature.

OK there big guy. You're being a bigger fanboy than I supposedly am. I loved BF2 and I like BF3. You're just trashing BF3 because of your BF2 fanboyism. Define "BF game" cause there are a lot of those. Here's a list I pulled of Wikipedia...which one are you talking about when you say "BF game"? 2002 Battlefield 1942 2003 Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome 2003 Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII 2004 Battlefield Vietnam 2005 Battlefield 2 2005 Battlefield 2: Special Forces 2005 Battlefield 2: Modern Combat 2006 Battlefield 2: Euro Forces 2006 Battlefield 2: Armored Fury 2006 Battlefield 2142 2007 Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike 2008 Battlefield: Bad Company 2009 Battlefield Heroes 2009 Battlefield 1943 2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam 2010 Battlefield Online 2011 Battlefield Play4Free 2011 Battlefield 3 2011 Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand

My biggest gripe is that the game freezes on me between map changes. It stops loading so I have to close and re open the game almost every map in multiplayer. Also the hackers are annoying too, I don't know why they bother doing what they do.

I dont have that freezing issue anymore, that hasnt happened to me since the 2nd patch I think. The hackers on the other hand is really bad, I was playing earlier and ended up quitting because it got ridiculous. I found that I would unload an entire clip of ammo on someone before they died, Yet, they would kill me with like three bullets. You could say it was a case of it being the other guy being more accurate, however, this was happening time and time again, regardless of distance and which part of the body I was hitting. Seriously, if anyone has any input on this, I would love to hear it because the whole game just feels horribly unbalanced to me.

I love BF3 and I think it is one of the finest multiplayer FPS games I have ever played. In fact, it's the only multiplayer game I play regularly these days.

My only gripe? Lack of VOIP. VOIP was awesome in BF2, shame they didn't bring it for BF3.

And my definition is BC2, cause that's what I've played. My point is, that there are many different types of BF games in the series. Your particular definition of what true BF game is applicable to you.

I feel the same way. A lot of people say there are few hackers, if that, but I find with my wife in many games people who repeatedly soak bullets and get the craziest headshots. Too much for me to think an aimbot/hack is not in use...A lot of instances are just server lag (dive for cover, get killed, for example, and it seems you were shot through a wall), but there are many instances of what I can only see as hacking.

9 times out of 10 you think that they are a hacker they're not, it's just an easier way for you to cope with the fact that you died and he didn't.

LOL the BF2 maps are bigger.

Maybe larger than vanilla maps, but the B2K maps are a 1:1 scale more or less. Some tweaks were made to Karkand to eliminate a pointless capture point and reduce the US spawn distance from the first capture point.

If you don't believe me, go to BF2 and see the distances between the flags. They are almost identical. You just move much faster in BF3 and there is no fog.

Karkand was cut down for no real reason. It's 32 player size. So what if SOME OF Karkand maps are on a 1:1 scale? Also 4 medium sized maps are supposed to replace 9 garbage maps built around 24-32 players?

Karkand a 32 player sized map? lmao. Maybe if you wanted over half the map to be empty. 64 seems perfect for Karkand, and even then there is a ton of room to move around without being constantly under fire. If you hate BF3 so much just go back to BF2 and quite b*tching about BF3 here, it won't do you any good.

I bought BF3 so I have the right to bash it all day. DICE(Zhint0, the community manager) said a long time ago Karkand and some of the urban maps were built around 32 players at first and were expanded to fit 64 players. BF3 Karkand=32 player BF2 Anymore then 24-32 players in BF3 karkand becomes a cluster **** . That goes for every map except for Oman and Wake.

You do have a right to complain about anything you won't, it just won't do you any good here. I've never had a problem with 64 player Karkand being too crowded. Also wake? lol, Wake is like half the size of Karkand if you don't count the water (which you shouldn't because no one fights in the water)
