Yeah, yeah, boo hoo, they made some DLC that appeals to people who like smaller maps. Big deal, Battlefield 3 has maps that are big and small, and offers experiences for both types of players. Currently the biggest problem i have with is the stupid floor reflections that make no sense. Same problem in the single player, when they had floor reflections they were always reflecting stuff incorrectly. If you can get at least a semi-accurate reflection, just leave it with a specular map.ferret-gamer
They already have a lot of map variety, this is just trying to get some of the corridor shoot crowd to play BF3.Oh no, how dare they add map variety.

*rolls eyes* If you want COD, play COD. This new direction is sickening. kaealySo the only difference between BF3 and CoD are the map designs?

I haven't played MW3, but I played CoD 4 and MW2. I am currently play BF3. I like BF3 way more of course, but that's because of the openness and large player numbers you expect with a BF game. It is no more realistic than CoD nor does it handle all that different, it is simply on a larger scale. Turn BF3 into a corridor shooter and it becomes the same crap CoD is.
Making it Infantry only does NOT make BF3 suddenly CoD. They play completely differently.
And this looks great. Get into some fun messy situations on those maps
Please enlighten me to how they play differently. They're the same unrealistic-type shooters, BF3 just feels different because it has a different focus and is on a much larger scale. This expansion pack will play a lot like CoD. Although i'd imagine BF3 will be worse because of the stupid flash light and laser that always seems to hit your guy right in the eyes, even though there is like a .01% chance that would ever happen during firefight.Making it Infantry only does NOT make BF3 suddenly CoD. I completely agree with all of your statements so far. You've basically summed up my feelings towards this new expansion completely. To all the people saying how this map makes BF3 similar to CoD, if you watched the video you'd see that he was basically running in circles looking for people to kill which is based on the circular, small map design. Hence the similarity to Call of Duty games. Also, not one of you people defending this expansion has provided any explanation as to why you think this expansion doesn't make BF3 incredibly similar to CoD in terms of its gameplay. I'm genuinely curious what your explanation is to that.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]

Am I the only one that sees the upside to this?
You don't have to buy this dlc if it isn't your cup of tea. There will be more dlc down the road that will cater to your tastes.
This way you know exaclty what your getting. You don't have to buy a dlc pack that only includes 1 or 2 maps that you like and few that you will hate.
I also don't see this really segregating the community either since you can filter the servers according to maps/dlc. I mean it's not like you would want to play with those who prefer the 'generic corridor' gampley, (not my words).
I'm amazed people want to pay $15 on top of the $60 to turn BF3 into a crappy CoD clone when they could just be playing CoD.
The people saying there's no downside to these kinds of maps have obviously been ignoring DICE's decisions. They've already started making general balance changes around the whiny metro crowd (see famas, grenades, RPGs, M320, shotguns, etc, etc). You can't have a game with a lot of variety and expect it to be the best in every aspect. In short, the players that enjoy CoD sytle maps and gameplay are turning BF3 into a medoicre CoD game and an equally mediocre BF game... the end result is that no one is happy.
Battlefield already had an enormous range of combat types within the larger maps, but I guess that's just not good enough... you've got to spawn 2 feet from the enemy, run in circles till you find them, spray and pray, then rinse and repeat.

So just because you take away open terrain and vehicles the games are the exact same? BF3s infantry combat is far different to MW3s. It doesn't have that mechanical arcadey feeling to it. The guns handle incredibly different in each game. and the characters themselves act differently. Sure it's easy to say making the maps smaller makes it seem more codlike but only in the fact that maps are smaller and infantry focused. Doesn't suddenly make them the exact same games. I've played MW3 online and I have played SQDM and TDM in hardcore in BF3 and they are nothing alike.
Not to mention the amount of destruction that will be in those tiny maps. What will start out as prefabricated walls and line of sight blockages will all be gone by the end of each round making the environment dynamic and open up more visually.
Also sure the attachments can be annoying but you have options. Learn to shoot and kill the guys using them it's not evry hard. Also use them against them too. Can't beat them join them.
All this moaning is getting annoying now. Nobody is forcing you to buy these maps. Just wait for the armoured pack. They are smart this way because they put them all in their respective packs meaning if you had an armor one in the middle of close quarters you would have to buy them all or miss out. This way they have all the close quarters maps (Which infantry only on metro is the most played BF3 mode) and then all the open maps.
Don't like it don't buy it? they ruined a life time gaming series how do you think veterans feel? i wish they ruin your favorite franchise so when you complain i'll tell you "don't like it don't buy it".

They ruined an entire franchise for veterans by announcing 1 DLC pack you don't like? FFS stop moaning. BF3 has a lot more problems than this that need fixing first. And BF veterans are always moaning about BF3 anyway. This DLC won't change anything.
You will get your true BF DLC with the armored pack so chill out. My God people overact way too much.
More like you're all afraid of what CoD guys will say about BF3 now and the reputation of the game itself rather than just liking the game and having fun. Are you all afraid you will buy it and actually like ti and it makes you less of a battlefield veteran? Grow up

Overreacting much? Chill. It's a map pack. It's not like they made Battlefield 4 and made it infantry only.

I'm not moaning about anything, I'm just responding to people that say it won't be like CoD. It will be very similar, and the gunplay isn't all that different. Hit detection in both games are questionable at best, and both have really unrealistic weapons that nobody would/could ever use. I get that destruction will make it a bit unique but the core gameplay and the objective of the game will be ultimately the same as CoD. I don't have a problem with DICE doing this, why not go after another crowd? I just have a problem with people pretending it won't make the gamer like CoD because they automatically refer to CoD as crap and want to believe BF3 is far superior.Don't like it don't buy it? they ruined a life time gaming series how do you think veterans feel? i wish they ruin your favorite franchise so when you complain i'll tell you "don't like it don't buy it".

Yes, one DLC pack you don't have to buy means the entire franchise is ruined.

No matter what dice do there is always a flood of whiners to complain about something Also what do you mean unrealistic weapons from your other post? All of the weapons in BF3 are based on real life weapons First of all, no one should ever go to the battlelog forums. Also, while the guns are based on real guns, it's not realistic for them to be used. You cannot even run around with an m98 it's so heavy and the recoil would throw you backwards. That;s why the gun is assembled on site. Also, the Javelin cannot simply be carried around on you back and fired by one man. It is usually fired in a stationary position with a team of 2 people. Little things like that bother me and it is one of the reasons I didn't like CoD, then BF had to go and do it.

Jesus, the amount of whining in this thread is spectacular.
Holy sh*t, they're making DLC that appeals to people who enjoy maps like Metro. Since when does that make BF3 like CoD?
It does make BF3 like CoD. How does it not? Of course it doesn't make the already existing maps like CoD, it just adds CoD-like maps, therefor making the game like CoD when playing those maps.Jesus, the amount of whining in this thread is spectacular.
