Hello everyone,

I've been playing BC2 again recently and I kept getting an odd feeling that the game was alright but not as good as it could have been. I mean, I played every BF game from 1942, Vietnam, 2, and 2142 and love every single one of them but when I play BC2 I do have fun but I also feel as if I should be pissed off for some reason. After thinking about it, I have come to some conclusions as to why I feel this way and was wondering if anyone else shared these gripes in regards to BC2.

Good:

Stable community

Interesting Perks/Upgrades

Decent destructability

Alright campaign (For a BF game)

Bad:

Bloom: Why is it when I'm in the desert I can't look out of a tanks targetting reticle without being blinded or having a very hard time seeing anything?

Gunplay: It's fast and fun at times but it removes all feel of this being a "realistic" or even a modern engagement and just a relative of MW.

Vehicles: Alright I understand vehicles were overpowered in previous games but come on, they shouldn't die as quickly and should be able to turn the tide of a battle more easily. Yes modern infantry do have capabilities to destroy a tank but not every unit would contain the weapons to do so. Add in that the majority of tanks also have counter-measures to anti-tank weaponery that infantry do carry. Helicopters are fly-by-night (No pun intended) vehicles in which the majority of players will launch with out the driver and either drive it into a tank or bail mid-air to get to the battle. An Apache is not a transport helicopter and shouldn't be treated as such.

Explosives: This is my biggest gripe with the game. I can understand infantry having grenades on them as most modern armies equip their infantry with such weaponry. However, that doesn't take into the count the rocket spam and the mortar spam that can completely ruin your strategies. I understand destructabily is suppose to even the playing field from campers and such but god help me when a building is actually more dangerous to be in then being out in the open due to the wall exploding in your face every five seconds.

Knives: Stabby Stabby..... Ok, I can assume that a knife would be able to take down a person pretty quickly if you snuck up on them. (BF 2142/2 for instance) The thing that urks me is that when clearing I'm out a building, walking through a door, having a cup of tea all of a sudden I'm in killcam mode due to some guy who instead of being quick with the trigger finger was quicker with the knife button. Come on, the knife should be a last resort weapon not the bloody weapon of choice.

Lack of Commander: The matches all see to be run around, kill a bunch, and sometimes capture. Yes I loved this in games like UT2K4 but it doesn't belong in Battlefield games. This game should have more coordination and objectives. Add the old perks of removing Mortar strikes from the average dude and giving it to the guy who is coordinating an attack while also using spy planes to get enemy positions makes more sense to me.

Anyways, enough ranting for one day. Yes I enjoy the game but every time I load it up these gripes are always in my face and making it less enjoyable then it should be. Anyone else have the same problems?

IMO - Good: sound effects and destructive enviroment Bad: battlefield gameplay which isn't as we'd want it to be like CoD series.

I think its to balance, giving you a unlimited view would make a tank OP.

How so? The tank already suffers from lack of use due to the abundance of explosive devices that take it out rather easily. Sure the lack of jets does make the tank a little more viable but blinding the driver/gunner does not help balance something that tends to see back at the base empty....

I agree regarding the bloom. also its unbalanced if you take the Atacama desert map for example pilot the USMC helicopter and then pilot the Spetznaz one , you will see that the Spetznaz one has more bloom so you can barely see. I dont see the point of this as its clearly (pardon the pun) unbalanced.

Trust me; tanks aren't neglected and are by no means underpowered. What you should be complaining about is the overuse of helicopters and how overpowered they are.

The bloom is also there to prevent snipers from killing you from their spawning point. Trust me it's for your own good. Have you also seen a squad, 4 engies, 1 being a tank driver, those things are so effing annoying when the other 3 just repair the hell out of it...

As a BF game, it is lacking indeed.

I have not encountered a bucketload of recons tho, they are usually within the same number of each other class (maybe because I play rush only?)

I see just fine with the tank too, but given the amount of people who complain, I am willing to acknowlage it :P

The problems I have with the game, is the lack of prone, I know it is a small thing, but it really irks me.

Also the unlocks, I dislike how fast you level up, get all the gear. Sofar ive been playing BF2 for around 4 years, about average time spent, and I still need 2 unlocks, I got all unlocks in BC2 in about a week.

And I Loathe the knife... one butten instant Melee kill? Really now? I know it is a console thing, but that knife gets out WAY too fast, and is WAY too lethal. Kind of odd, if someone with a shotgun and someone with a knife hits eachother at the same time, there is a good chance the knifer gets away alive, fairly low chance the shotgunner does.

That said, I do not consider BC2 a BF game at all, It Ironically may have replaced css on my fps list, but I still prefer BF2 over BC2 (apart from poor hit detection, and the nadespamming)

I mostly get killed by snipers so it's really annoying. However, I'm starting to like sneaking up on them and stabbing them in the ear.

B/c most of the time snipers only care about killing and not team tactics.

Good:

Decent destructability

Cdscottie

This made me laught. BC 2 is pretty much the ONLY fps in which destructible environments are hugely fused with the gameplay , dramatically changing the war landscape and your actions and choices. Take a look: Halo doesn't ave a reactive environment at all, nor Unreal Tournament, Quake Call Of Duty, Counter Strike, Crysis (forgetable use of the destructability in the mp, also limited to DX 10) or even ArmA II, the simulator paradigm.

So, if "decent" means "absolutelly over the top, ages beyond for the competition", yeah, I agree.

About the other aspects, knife is fine: mostly is a rear attack that trends to fail in most of other situations. This is perfect due in real life your chances to kill with a knife in a dierect confrontation a enemy wielding a full auto gun are a joke.

I cant even learn to like the game again at this point. I get taken out by people sniping or camping like every 10 seconds. Sure I suck, but other games I feel like I have a fighting chance then die because I suck.

Good: It's fun.

Bad: Lots of glitches.
