Bio's Questions

Hey im a first time builder all my parts will arrive in like 1-3 days ive watched tons of videos and putting together looks easy i maybe wrong but just takes common sense and patience .... But whe it comes to starting computer and bios and stuff thats another story with me so heres a few questions

1) Once PC is build and connected up when i run for first time do i have to set/adjust the bio's or do i only do this if some kind of error message or codes come up when starting it ?

2) What the main things i have to do in the bios edit/adjust wise?

3) I wont receive my OS for a couple days after ive built it so if i build then start and see if any errors and if there is i correct the bios all i have to do is wait for os after and install it?

4) what common or major problems could i have when starting the comp for first time and how do i go by correcting these?

i have ask 1 or 2 people in pm's but i would like everyones opinions and advice from personal experince

1) No, unless your memory is rated at something other than a JEDEC standard, in which case you may want to set the voltages, frequencies, and timings in the BIOS. Your PC will still run regardless of whether or not you set these.

2) Read above.

3) If the system starts up fine, the only error you should get is "no boot record/bootable disk found". And yes, all you have to do is install the operating system and the motherboard and graphics drivers.

4) Common problems: forgot to plug in cables, incorrectly mounted CPU, incorrectly seating the heatsink, and incorrectly wiring up the front panel cables. All of these are easy to fix, if not, just ask on GS :)

Ok kinda understandis there a certain order to put these discs in ? if so which order ? plus im getting a hd 5770 sapphire it shoudl come with a disc ? to setup up gfx drivers? if so would i also have to go on ther esite and download some up to date drivers cause ive heard this entioned a few times

@insecurekiller: If you've done your homework and bought quality components that are compatible with eachother, you should be good to go. I was in the same boat you were in about a week ago. I ordered all my components from newegg and was waiting for them to arrive. In the back of mind I was concerned if everything was going to go smoothly....and it did. Once UPS delivered the components it took me about 5hrs to get everything up and running smoothly. Mind you, I took my time and read all the literature that came with my components. Of all the literature I read, the MOBO manual was the most important, imo. In fact, while waiting for UPS to deliver my components, I visited my mobo's manufacturer's website and downloaded the manual so I could read through it before.

It sounds to me however, that you HAVE done your homework....so you should be fine. If you DO end up running into a few speedbumps, you can always post your queries here at the Forums. In my experience, this a very decent community who, more often than not, know what they're talking about.

And to answer your question, the default settings in the BIOS are configured to apply to most conditions. So, the chances of you having to change some settings to get your rig to work are small. Good luck and enjoy your new rig....Im enjoying mine....Windows 7 is sweet btw lol
