BioWare just released its long awaited PC game Mass Effect while Blizzard is about to release Starcraft 2 and WoW WotLK. With the exception of Valve, these two companies are the only ones out there that value quality over quantity.

BioWare so far published many quality PC games, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gates, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect and many others. All of the games listed above received very positive reviews and response and are well liked by all. Personally, KOTOR is my favorite game ever.

Blizzard is equally prestigious. Blizzard games include Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft series, and World of Warcraft, the most popular game ever. All of Blizzard's games still have a strong community around it even though games such as starcraft was published ten years ago.

So which company do you guys think makes better games?

PLay both and it's hard to compare what blizzard has done to the video game industry. To anyone for that matter.

Rob Pardo (blizzard) vs. Ray Muzyka (bioware) in a game of American Gladiators, who will win? I think its the only way to decide the answer to this question.

Both are amazing companies that have done wonders to the PC platform in the past and I really couln't choose between them because their games are sooo different.

Blizzard has given me more fun over the years.

Bioware has just made me feel like i'm playing a movie quality story and the first company to make me feel emotion in a game.

Yeah, that might be a bit of an overstatment.

I personally favor Bioware's games, but Blizzard is a master of the RTS genre. It'll be interesting to see how SCII stacks up against modern RTS's like DoW 2.

i guess i'll go with bioware, just cuz baldur's gate 2 is that awesome; plus, i'm not a huge rts fan (while being a huge rpg fan), so that may have something to do with it as well. but blizzard's an excellent company, to be sure.

Wow this is actually a difficult decision. But I will have to go with Bioware because they have developed many more games that I have enjoyed than Blizzard. The only Blizzard games I like are Starcraft and Diablo ( and Diablo isn't THAT great IMO). So, both great developers, but Bioware pulls through.

Go over to the BioWare forums and you will see many users there with every single Bioware PC title registered to their screenname. The PC crowd loves Bioware, and Bioware gives it back. Good point that both should be highly praised for being faithful to and sticking with their PC fanbase.

I had to go with Bioware. I've loved all of their games. Not so much with Blizzard. I really disliked WoW and have never been a fan of Starcraft. Warcraft 1 was fun. 2 was okay, but it didn't have enough to hold my interest. Never played 3. Diablo 1 and 2 were a lot of fun, and I still pick back up DIablo 2 to play for a bit.

I also like Bioware more because they at least shake things up with new IP every now and then. (Jade Empire, NWN, BG, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KotOR, etc.) Since '95 everything Blizzard has done has been based off their 3 main IPs: Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft. That's great that the IPs that they basically blatantly ripped-off from Games Workshop have done so well, but I'd like to see something new. Or hell, I dunno, res an old IP like Lost Vikings.

I like both publishers very much, but I have always tended to the blizzard games because they are more to my cartoony inner child I guess. Difficult to compare but who knows, I will very quickly go off blizzard if they do to their other games that have have done to WoW

Blizzard is the better game company. Bioware makes interactive stories, but none of their games since MDK have decent gameplay. Strip any Bioware game of their quality writing and stories, and you have some really terrible games. KOTOR, for example, has no game play balance, no enemy AI to speak of, no challenge. Blizzard, meanwhile, still has huge followings for their Starcraft and Warcraft strategy games. Unlike Bioware, Blizzard knows how to make good games that are actually games, and not just pretty stories.

Bioware by a mile. I enjoy Blizzard games for the most part but have kinda ticked me off with nothing but wow in the last how many years. Not to menion I hate wow. Will admit I'm looking forward to SC2, but Bioware makes games more to my liking, rpg's anyone!!! Not to mention bioware lets you get the girl. Blizzard leaves you standing alone. Love them both but Bioware rules.

Bioware

Though I believe noone can honestly claim that Blizzard isn't one of the top companies in their field, the lack of quality in their storytelling just ruins it for me. I think they make great games to play with other people online, but the story that supposedly keeps the action in context very often seems to be just something that was left over from an old pen and paper rpg campaign from when they were kids.

Blizzard is infinitely better than Bioware.

Blizzard

1. Loyal to their pc fanbase

2. Though their games are $60 dollars, they can last for an eternity, STILL receives support (for their old games) and have a godly amount of polish and awesome mods

3. Probably has one of if not the best cgi in the video game industry

Bioware

1. Cannot make a good pc port (ME2)

2. Charge a pc game for $60 with day 1 dlc, will probably be shorter, will probably have bugs, possibly consolized and removed mod support

3. Lets be honest Bioware's cgi is probably average at best

Ugh, what does it matter if they're 'loyal' to the fanbase? They're 'loyal' because they're one of the few companies that can make a very good profit by just remaining PC exclusive by focusing on the multiplayer features of their games. Blizzard already said that it does not consider itself a PC developer, but a game developer. And old thread is old.

I'm not sure why I'm answering a question from nearly three years ago, but my opinion is that both developers make decisions that just rub me the wrong way. Blizzard makes less of those and they produce better games, though, so they have an easy win.

Bioware; I'd say Blizzard since this is on the PC, but I prefer the former's development time.
