Black Ops running REALLY slow?

I purchased black ops and I noticed that it lags like a mofo on me quite frequently.

My specs are:

E6600 C2D @ 3.1Ghz

4GB DDR2 RAM

XFX ATI 5770 1GB DDR5

Win 7

I have bare minimum settings, texture quality set to medium and it STILL lags. MW2 and 1 ran high on everything and I had no problems. Other high end games like Crysis and Oblivion also ran super fast with everything set on high.

What's the issue then?

I havent run the game yet cause i'm at work. it should be automatic right?

Runs great for me, they also put out a patch for singleplayer and one fo rmultiplayer last night that fixed alot of issues some peopel where having.

Only issue I had was stuttering once in awhile on teh first level of the campaign, but the update last night seemed to fix that, runs awesome now.

As for the online, the update helped alot of peoples issues.

When you get home start up steam and it should update for you.

From waht ive heard there was an issue for Quad and Dual Core users, one of hte fixes was for that.

Also noticved that there is over 8,000 servers up now, where as the other day there was a few hundred.

A performance improvement for "dual and quad core?" Wouldn't that cover the vast majority of PC gamers who would be running Black Ops? Sounds pretty general.

^ I know, unless you have hexa core, because 1 core processor won't even be able to run the game.

I have a triple core and I was also having issues, I think it's just a pretty generic message for multi-core processing issues. The game is overall running much smoother than it was on release, but I still have some hitches every now and then.. sometimes getting me killed >:|

Seems like everytime I play the game my fps goes up, I have the game totally maxed now and it only dips into the 40's sometimes at 1920x1080, altho I OC my e8400 from 3.0ghz to 3.6ghz yesterday that could be it? Game seems to be running fine after the patches now.

Runs sweet for me at mostly high settings and our systems are nearly Identical except I have XP and an Nvidia card. Hope the patch helps you.

Couldn't they release this game patched? Sloppy company. I'd rather delay the product than release it unfinished, but then more was spent on advertising instead so Treyarch obviously doesn't care as long as its gets paid.
