Hello. I appologize if I'm writing in a wrong section, as I haven't found the problems section. Anyways, I have a problem. I bought a pc about 6 years ago with a monitor viewsonic ve710b. Now about a year ago I bought a new pc, and I still use the same monitor. While playing some games, on old pc, and this one, sometimes screen starts blinking white, like flashbangs all over my screen. On an old pc my screen was blinking while playing battlefield if I'm not mistaken, and on the new one, it blinks while playing such games as BF3, Sniper Elite V2, I haven't tried playing battlefield, but I'm pretty sure it would blink. Now I can't understand why it is happening, as games such as COD:MW3 are running fine on best settings, and not a blink is given. I can make blinking go away by turning my monitor off and on, but only for a couple of seconds or so. Also, my screen blinks, while loading some part of windows after turning pc on. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I would say the GPU is dying, you could try install newer drivers.

Drivers from here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us though you say you already have them. So it's only happening in some games? And does it blink if you watch a movie? It could be the monitor too so if you can try with another one it'd be good to rule it out.

your monitor is dying.

its not screen tearing.

especially if you hear any kind of hiss from your monitor, it is dying.

this is what happened before my lg flatron died. some games it looks like there is constant contrast fluctuation going on, it is almost subliminal at first and then will get worse and worse then start hissing, then your monitor will just switch off and die.

and it being ok for a second when you turn your monitor off and on proves its dying as whatever component is about to fail it is taking that 1 second to heat up again before it starts failing.

There's no hiss. No sound. Also, it is happening for over 4 years, so I think he would have died a long time ago. Also this once it turned red, and then turned off, but I took it into the shop, and they fixed it. I took some pictures, so you would have better view of what am I dealing here with. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/dsc00041ro.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/20/dsc00042kl.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/dsc00043mq.jpg/ sorry for the bad quality, I don't have a camera, so I've taken those with my phone. Also, only camera can spot those little colorful lines, when I'm looking at the screen, I see only white flashes, flashing very fast. Mabe my eyes can't catch it.

like i say, its your monitor. its the same issue i had. i might last for a long time before it dies, but the problem is still with the monitor not being able to refresh cleanly.

Ok, thank you for your opinion. I will consider buying a new monitor, I just hope someone will know a better way to solve this. Still, I don't understand why it flashes only during certain games.. Did I mention, that it blinks like that for a couple of seconds, while loading BIOS? I just started Sniper Elite in windowed mode, and now I can play, and screen stays normal. Any thought?
