Blizzard wont make another mmo.justheretodl124
Actually they are. If you go to the job opportunites section of Blizzards site they've been hiring folks for a "next gen MMO".
I think a World of Diablo would have potential to be badass, as long as they made it dark and evil and not WoW-style graphics.MTBare
and with a mature rating count me in as a long term subscriber.
Why do people keep saying World of StarCraft ? I thought there was more than one world in StarCraft
It should be Galaxy (or Galaxies) of StarCraft or Worlds of StarCraft
They are defenitely not doing WoW2. I've got my money on a Diablo personally, but i would rather they make a starcraft one.
I think if Blizzard is working on an MMO, and it's a PC MMO, I think they will try and make something that compliments rather than rivals WoW.
WoW has hit ten million and is still climbing. WoW has not peaked, which means there is no need to replace WoW. WoW 2 is absolutely out of the question.
I also think it's highly unlikely that Blizzard will open a new IP for the MMO - it's possible, but it strikes me as unlikely. Blizzard has some of the most popular gaming IPs on the planet, and they are not really into starting new ones. Which means we're looking at either a World of Diablo or a World of StarCraft in all probability. While the diablo IP is as far removed from WarCraft as it comes when we're talking about RPG vs RTS, the two universes are both pretty similar when you look at the underlying mechanics. They're both swords and sorcery. Hell, WoW even plays a lot like an MMO version of Diablo II.
And I don't think Blizzard wants two MMOs running that are in direct competition - and the more similar they are, the more likely they are to compete. A WoD would just be too similar to WoW. It would be like if McDonalds opened up a McDanalds chain that basically sold the same thing. Companies don't want their own products competing with eacbother unless it's in some way to their benefit. The MMO playerbase is ultimately finite, and if a player has to choose between swords_and_sorcery_mmo01 or swords_and_sorcery_mmo02, it's not in Blizzard's best interest.
Which brings me to one likely remaining conclusion - World of StarCraft. StarCraft is a crazy popular IP (not to mention the fact that MMOs are most popular in the part of the world where StarCraft is also most popular) and most importantly, any SC MMO would compliment rather than rival WoW. As SOE did with EQ and SWG, Blizzard could offer a dual subscribership discount for people playing both games. If they're different enough in at least their setting, then many WoW players will hungrily eat it up. That would still happen with a Diablo MMO, but to a much reduced degree. A lot of players would happily play a swords and sorcery MMO, then go off and play a scifi MMO for a while.
But that said, I think that unless Blizzard has already announced otherwise, a console version of WoW is their most likely target. If they can multiplat it across all three consoles then there's about thirty million more people they can market the game to. Even if ten million of those are also PC gamers, that's still twenty million potential customers. I could see WoW selling about five million console units within a year or two of launch.

a diablo mmo would be exactly the same as a Warcraft mmo, but with less classes races and no factions, why would they bother?
iam pretty sure ive seen in a interview that they were working on Starcraft 2 and a new franchise mmo, but i cant remember where
i would HATE blizzard if they made a world of diablo....leave diablo how it is. a hack n slash dungeon crawler. The reason is cause its free online, crazy in depth with classes, etc
they should make a world of starcraft.
I'm hoping for a new IP but tbh they'll probably bore us with Starcraft or Diablo.Grantelicious
.....yea....no :|
They have a few choices.
-Starcraft World MMO
-Diablo World MMO
-World of Warcraft 2 (lol)
-New IP MMO
Personally, I don't care.

Haha, i agree with the lol. It's not going to be WoD, that would take people from WoW, it has to be Universe of Starcraft, or similar, an MMOFPS would rock my socks.

SOE already done a good job of that themselves.
So does "Next-Generation MMO" mean that it's going to be on the consoles as well?THGarrett
Probably cause Blizzard have teamed up with Activision.

no that it competes in todays generation
All we know about a new Blizzard MMO is that the website has job posting for a "next-gen MMO project" or something.
No other official word has been announced iirc.
Whatever it is I'm sure it'll be stolen just like everything else at Blizzard.
StarCraft/Warcraft was stolen from Warhammer & WH40K, Diablo stolen from Ultima VIII, etc
Don't know why people hype these blatant thieves.
World of Starcraft smells like epic fail to me. Most sci-fi MMO's are, don't use EVE as an example as ship based combat is totally different.
I'd personally hope for WoW 2. Please put the story foward a few more years. Theres only so many times that Arthas can be threatening to be invading but not quite be.
My guess would be World of Starcraft. They did something like this with Warcraft.. Blizzard released Warcraft III and its expansion in 2002-2003 and released World of Warcraft the next year (2004). Think they will build up the hype and the storyline with Starcraft II for their MMO. So we should see World of Starcraft around 2010.Keb101
If there is one it better be a fast action RPG. No turn based stuff for me please. I would really like to see Quest and Other RPG elements to it though.
Even though I hate MMO's with a passion, I think I would buy a Diablo 3 MMO, AS LONG AS THEY KEPT THE FOLLOWING:
The same hack and slash gameplay that made Diablo 1 and 2 great
The same randomized levels that made Diablo 1 and 2 great
The same mature plot and theme that made Diablo 1 and 2 greatRottenberry
They should make Diablo 3 similar to Guild Wars in the sense of online arrangement.. which was basically what Diablo 2 was trying to attain..
IN all honesty I don't want them to make another MMo for a long time.. People come on already the market is saturated with MMOs we do not need another MMO for quite some time.

Yes, and
The same lack of monthly fees.
I hope they do make World of Starcraft...they will learn from their mistakes with WoW and it will be the best freaking MMO in existence.mrbojangles25best mmo i don't think so at all

Well I would pay for it, but if theyre cool about it they would let your existing WoW account carry over, so you can play two games while only paying one monthly fee.
But somehow I doubt that would happen, but a guy can always hope.
