Of course not. They are both being played in 480i. Why would there be a difference?

Why spend the money on blu-ray discs and equipment if you are going to play it on an SDTV? You're not even getting the full benefit of DVD on such a set.

Unless you plan on doing so in the near future, don't bother. Why spend more on a disc and player now to use 5 years down the road when the media and player will likely be cheaper and better then?

If you have an honest to god intention to by an HDTV in the next 12 months stop buying DVDs right now. Anything that isnt worth buying on BD wasnt worth buying at all and should have just been rented.

I wish i had thought it through. I have probably a dozen movies that i purchased in the year leading up to my HDTV that i am either going to have to live with on DVD or buy twice to get BD.

This is true. It all comes down to when you will be making the HD plunge. As I said, if it is years from now, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Take solace in the fact the DVD probably cost half what the Blu-Ray did though.

Actually if you look at the costs of them now Blue Ray are only a little bit more expensive, the cost of DVDs has gone up abit in the past few to cope with the introduction of Blue Ray I think...

True they seem to have raised prices on new discs so that people buy the new Blu-Ray version or combo discs. However, it is rare to find $5 Blu-Ray's whereas a huge percentage of DVD titles can be found very cheap.
