I'm really getting tired of this.. I thought I already fixed this problem
but somehow it tends to resurface..
after a day of having Cat 8.6 and everything running fine..
my computer then decides to boot up with a black screen..
I thought it was just very small.. next time i reboot..I blue screen immediately..
there's really something wrong with atikmdag.sys..

can anyone help me out

Otherwise need specs!

download newest drivers or if thats what youve done (not sure if 8.6 is latest..i use nvidia) then use older drivers. also try and see if theres any new programs youve installed and try un-installing them.

yea its really weird.. i uninstalled the hotfix drivers (8.6) right now.. and rebooted.. it boots without the cat drivers..
then when i reinstalled 8.7 with CCC.. i get the bsod on startup..
uninstalled again..
then i tried reinstalling 8.7 with just the drivers.. bsod.. then it restarted.. i tried again to start normally..
and it works..
-sigh- i'm really irritated.. this is my first ATI experience.. and oh boy.. sure is a bad one..

I have no idea why it worked for me, but try running chkdsk on your machine. I had a few BSOD's related to ATI drivers (and admittedly a few other things) a few months back, and chkdsk cleaned them up for whatever reason.

nope..
well i first encountered the bsod on startup when i flashed my bios to 1.3...
i reverted now back to 1.1.. and so far no bsod on startup.. so i guess that's fixed.. but i'm guessing
i'm back to bsod in games.. -sigh-.. i'm gonna keep trying different drivers
if i bsod with this 8.7 driver while playing crysis.. i'll try the hotfix 8.6 again..
i've never had such so much trouble with a card
