I recently set up a new rig for moderate gaming as well as the usual stuff.

Since installing the graphics card (this morning) Im getting blue-screened around every 15 minutes.

Everything is at default specs (nothing OC'd)

Specs:

Mobo - MSI K9MM-

CPU - AMD Athlon 6400+ Black Edition (3.2ghz)

RAM - 2048MB DDR2 RAM

Graphics - Sapphire HD 2600XT (GDDR3 AGP)

Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

DX10

Windows Performance Index 5.2

Please help I'm kind of desperate!

instal your old GPU to make sure its that GPU thats messing it up (which im sure it is), try and download newest drivers if all fails it may be the GPU which is faulty.

Then your best bet, as yoyo462001 said, is to download the newest possible drivers for your graphics card. If you do have the newest ones, then try older ones.

Tbh I can't see it just randomly stop happening. And as for the drivers Cesar_Barba, I have the newest ones, any older ones are just decreasing my performance rating.

UPDATE: Just seems to be happening when I start playing a game...don't really know what that means...was happening regardless of what I was doing before though.

When you installed the new drivers, did you uninstall the old ones first?

Also, what does the BSOD say?

Right, but as you pointed out, it is only when you play games. I would venture the guess that it is the drivers. Perhaps the newest ones are not as stable as they should be for your setup under Vista. To be honest, I have yet to upgrade to Vista my self, so can't say I know much about it.

Have you tried running at a lower resolution for your games?

It runs Ultimate Tourny 2004 totally maxed and handles it fine, same with Silent Hill 4. When I try to play The Witcher and S.T.A.L.K.E.R it dies, so Im guessing its due to overheating.

UPDATE: Tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R again with minimum resolution and low/medium settings and it died within 30 seconds of gameplay. Im purchasing a custom cooler tomorrow afternoon to see if that will solve the problem.

BSOD can indicate a hardware problem and if you've just installed a GPU it may be that.

BSODs also contain some useful info, when you get the next BSOD look for something like:
"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" (just an example)
this can help you to work out whatscausing the BSOD

Does not sound like a heat issue, I think you would be getting artifacting first. You could also test out the free option, by downloading PC Wizard 2008. When you run it, then minimize it.. it has temp readings that are always on top. You run the game, and it will give you all your current cpu usage, core temps, and gpu temps. It really would be useful to know what your BSoD is saying, I kept a camera next to my computer when I was getting them... then I could refer to the EXACT message whenever I called into eVGA.

I already have PC wizard and I started The Witcher after computer has been switched off all night and most of today and within the first minute of playing (on low settings) it died after 5 minutes of play. The temp only increased by around 6-7 degrees so I now think that the overheating theory is out the window.

Im stuck for what to do now, and I cant get a clear enough shot of the Bluescreen.

did you say your mobo had intergrated graphics?

if it does, take your GFX card out and try to play a game, see if it works, if the game works without crashes then its your GFX card causing the BSOD.

When the BSOD occurs just look for the second line down in caps with _ in it, and write it down... This will be the most useful thing for help in solving the BSOD

Did you disable the onboard graphics chip in the BIOS, some mobos will BSOD out if thats not disabled and Windows is trying to default to that one even though you have a newer one in, usually this isn't a issue anymore but sometimes the mobo will be like that.
