The type that is in the majority of games released in the past 5 years I would guess.

If so, then I'm glad I have preordered it through Steam. This means I avoid SecuROM rubbish in my system.

To above post, how come you have Borderlands activated and playing, while my preloaded copy still says unreleased?

That's just saying that the Securom locked people out of the game if they bought it before release. Nothing big there.

The game isn't released in the UK or Europe yet I believe. Do you fit into that category?

Who cares? If its activation limits then that is worth posting. But unless you have any conformation then this is useless. Alot of PC games use secuROM including STALKER...

I do care, thanks for the info. It doesn't mean I won't buy it but it is nice to know when what I buy might bite me.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply I've been playing for awhile now and the wifey didn't feel like cooking today so we went out.

I don't know the exact SecuROM used, I was installing the game in the background while web surfing and when I clicked on my taskbar to see how much longer I saw the SecuROM icon right before the game finished installation.

I'm hardly trolling, that's just silly.

It could be something just as simple as a disk check. I'm sure 2k knows better than to follow in EA's footsteps with the Spore debacle.

EDIT: Borderlands SecuROM explained

EDIT #2: I didn't even realize it, but there's no DVD/CD Key. I just installed it and started playing

I am amazed at how crazy people get over SecuROM.. I mean seriously... there are much more important things in the world. I have never had any issues w/ SecuROM - and I don't reformat my PC every 5 days so I rarely run out of activations for any limited activation games; Those I have run out of activations for are ones I bought years ago and have changed PCs on since.. a quick email has always provided me with more activations.

back in the days of the old secuRom... wasn't very intrusive back then.
