Nothing is bottlenecking his CPU. Bottlenecking does not change your clock speed. Power saving features like Cool n Quiet change the CPU speed. Unfortunately, I don't know what the power saving feature for the P4 is called. I can only refer you to your motherboards manual. Edit: A quick look at wikipedia it's called speedstep.

Right, i had an old laptop with a 1ghz sempron processor. After a few years of work the clock speed slowly "drained" to 400 mhz. No idea why or how, but i never had anti virus on the thing for the years i was using it :P Did a complete reinstall of the os and everything and it jumped back up to 1ghz.

So a HD5780 would get bottlenecked by my E6600@2.4 and 4gb of Kingston 800mhz ram?

overclock the E6600 to something like 3.2 or 3.4 Ghz and you will be happy.

Yeah, a bit. Give it an overclock to 3.0Ghz and your fine.

Yeah, I just might do that. What cooler do you recommend, I've been looking at the CM Hyper 212 Plus.

Since we're at it, I'll add a question too.

Right now my I7920 is running at stock with a GTX285 which seems to not bottleneck at all. Would I need to OC a bit with the new ATI cards?

Freezer Pro 7 will do it easily and costs barely anything.
