Swap that GPU for a HD 4730, it shouldnt cost 10-20$ more than that GPU but it would be worth it, the rest of your system is good and for that price its superb. The 4730 is on par with a 8800GT/9800GT.

swap the CPU for a Phenom II 550 X2. it's 3.1Ghz. I also got that and a HD4850 512MB, and 4GB DDR2 1066 RAM for only 550$. shop around more on newegg and you'll get better price/performance than that. btw, that is still very good

Yes. THe build i'm currently working on is about 60-90$ cheaper and it uses the same hard drive, the same video card and a quad core.

I counted mail and rebate, if that changes anything.

I got the same build only with a 9800gt and it came out like fifty bucks cheaper than yours and it was a Athlon X2 regor 295 which easily overclocked to 3.5ghz. Look around more in newegg and you'll not only find cheaper parts but parts with higher customer satisfaction(more eggs). I don't wanna recommend my exact setup because its is almost exactly the same as yours, except I got a Gigabyte mobo. Try switching some parts with brands that are known to be more reliable like EVGA, and IDK about your PSU brand but Rosewill is highly respected in delivering reliable products, look at reviews I guess and decide from there. I did not have to buy the optical drive or the keyboard so, spending a little more money on the main parts of the PC did me good in performance and quality. It also depends on what you want to do later, Idk if your mobo has 2 pcie slots, but if its with one, then just switch to the gigabyte equivalent, its excellent.

Quad core with case power supply 2gb 667 ram.
