please tell me what are the best specs I can get for my money?
I already have a good monitor BTW so that does not need to be factored into the price.

[QUOTE="nVidiaGaMer"]Corsair 550 watt PSU
2GB or 4GB of RAM
E8400
9800GT/8800GT/9800GTX/HD4850
500GB HD

That sounds good can you just elaborate on the hardrive, I just need an exact brand name
Seagate is the best brand. I have a WD but from what I've heard and read Seagate is better.
This is what I got for $690...
Mobo: P5QC
GPU: 9600GT
CPU: E8400
PSU: Nspire 650W
Case: Antec 900
HDD: WD 500GB
RAM: 2GB, 1066GHz, 5-5-5-15
siskokidd
How much is the Nspire and 9600GT? He still needs a operating system.
Ok just one more thing, should I gow with a 32 bit edition of vista, or should I spring for a 64 bit?MasterC5
Save your money and go with the 32 bit I know several people who spent $50 extra on Windows XP 64 bit and it was basically useless. The same thing with the Vista 64 bit. No games take advantage of it as of yet.

It doesnt cost more.:?I was talking about XP Home vs. XP 64 bit. I didn't know about Vista 32 Bit and 64 Bit. If there priced the same then spring for the 64 bit.

8800Ultra has more V-Ram, higher bandwidth, but I'm not sure which one has higher clock speeds since yours is overclocked.
Here it is 8800Ultra $199.

Thnaks for the help, so I should buy everything at newegg.com right?
MasterC5
Yes newegg. If your going with a stock clocked 9800GTX I suggest getting a 8800Ultra instead from the link above.

Sounds good
The 8800Ultra performs slightly better then a 9800GTX when AA is enabled.

4850>8800 ultra.Spybot_9
I never said it was better and I wouldn't trust a 4850 with a stock cooler since they run at 80-90 C.

What's meant to run hotter is meant to run hotter and wont just die out.But well the ultra isnt far away from the 4850 so either choice would be a good one.
I just built one for about $600. Your mileage may vary.
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L (110 USD)
ATI HD4850 (150 USD)
2 1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800Mhz RAM (40 USD)
Core 2 Duo E8400 (150 USD)
160 GB SATAII HDD (45 USD)
Thermaltake TR 2 RX 550W PSU (100 USD)
Used an existing case and DLDVD-R drive
please tell me what are the best specs I can get for my money?

brb finding specs on newegg
I think its totally unbelievable how retailers out there are pricing their pc systems. IT Warehouse which is a national i.t. store lists premade systems on their website. But these 'gaming systems' are absolute bogus. They are conning the innocent, the people who dont know any better. they are listing a gaming systems such as a 2.4ghz Core2Duo, 1gb DDR2 533mhz, 250gb sata HDD, Nvidia geforce 7600GT 256mb, windows xp home, and lastly a 19" LCD. How much do say? Ill tell you. $2095. This is crazy. Officeworks, Dick Smiths, these places are all the same. They are cheating the public. For $2000 you could have a gaming rig consisting of a Quad Core Q6600, corsair 4gb DDR3 1066mhz, pci-e 2.0 motherboard with a Radeon HD4870, 750watt PSU, gaming case, windows vista 64bit, zalman cpu cooler and 22" LCD. Dont believe me? If your looking at building your own rig, check www.skycomp.com.au. thats where i get my gear from. great prices. In conclusion, dont buy pre made b***s*** systems from retailers who try squeeze every penny out of you.
Enthusiasts, do you agree?please tell me what are the best specs I can get for my money?

Swap that thermaltake for a Corsair PSU which is way better for only $15 more. A 160GB HD is small nowadays.
