Building A New PC To Run WoW

Looking for a somewhat cheap gaming rig that can run WoW at maxing setting and also the console commands at around 60 fps. I'm going to be purchasing off of neweggs, since they seem to have the lowest prices. (Anyone knows of a better, cheaper, more reliable site I would love to know) I gotta a price range of about 800 bucks at the moment, but I will be adding onto a little here and a little there after I got the base build. Such as an extra graphic card and such. Anyone can help me out here, I would really appreciate it.

This rig was a joke rig from rfomownage, but if you choose 2gb ddr2 to make it compatible with the mobo geforce 7200 for a geforce 9500gt it will definetly own WoW.

Heh, isn't that the truth. Also for this gaming rig I would like to play some of CoD4 and AoC also. Thats why I want a half way decent computer.

Drop the 4gbs of ram to 2gbs, drop the water cooler, get a thermaltake 120 extreme cooler for the cpu, and get an arctic cooling s1 rev 2 for your 9800gt, your all set.Gamerkat

If I took out the water cooling system could I still overclock? I read some where that water cooling is where it's at if your looking to overclock.

Yeah but if all you're going to do is play WoW there's absolutely no reason to overclock. WoW doesn't demand too much from hardware. My old desktop could run it maxed out with framerates well above 60 and the hardware in that thing was an x800 pro, Athlon 64 FX-53 @ 2.4GHz (that's a single core processor in case you don't know), and 1 GB of RAM. Really, you can run WoW maxed out on any decent gaming PC built in the last six years. A $900 PC is complete overkill for this game.

Buy an AlienWare, Dell XPS, or HP Blackbird 002. Only those computer can run WoW.

Or you can just build one with a Intel Quad Extreme, and nvidia GTX 280. That is the minimum hardware to play WoW.

I don't just want play WoW, I would like to be able play some crysis,Cod4,ect. So I don't just want a computer that can just play WoW, I want one that will be able play game just like that at 20 - 40 fps.coolfreund

Get a core 2 e7200, 2gb of gskill ram (works on almost every motherboard), a 9800gt, rosewill 500 watt psu, zerotherm nirvana cpu cooler, a cheap but good case, a p45 motherboard, and your set.

WOW is the best optimized game i've ever played, it looks great and runs on anything... my old nvidia 6800 suffered in crowded areas, but any nvidia 9000 card will run it smoothOld_Gooseberry
