Building a PC for $1000 USD! Go!

As the title says I am building a friend a new PC. It will be used strictly for gaming. Needs to last awhile so we might be waiting to build it so can you also suggest which parts to wait for? Thanks in advance! :cool:

Things I need:

-Combo drive / CD/ DVD drive

-SSD

-Mobo 

-CPU 

-GPU - Nvidia only

-Case (Black) or just a case that you think is really bad***, He's open to all suggestions. 

-PSU

* Will NOT be overclocking.

On the middle of the first page, theres a thread called "opinions on $900 build" (http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29439687/opinions-on-my-900-build )

Look at the users opening post and bump the video card to a 7950boost/760 and pay $10 more and get the K edition. Everything else looks good (maybe switch to a CX 750watt if your friends thinks he might use dual cards in the future, if not than the seasonic 620 is fine)

I don't know alot about sound cards (especially since it depends on what sound system he's running).

If it will be used strictly for gaming, as you said, why does he need a sound card? MoBos come with decent ones for everyday use. Unless he needs inputs to plug some sort of sound console I don't see the need.gp19

You can find the 7950boost for as low as $200 (can get 760 SC performance without even chaning the volts on the 7950) and the sapphire 7970boost was $300 last time I checked newegg.

The user isn't trying to find some deep meaning as to why you only want nvidia, he just wants to make sure you get the best system possible (nothing wrong with that)

As MasterShake said, you're cheating yourself out of a 7970 at 300$ or a 7950 at 200$. Both arguably better values comparatively than the 760. But if logic is not a thing you're into, then disregard everything we've just said.

Guys if we wants Nvidia, let him have it. It's his choice to make although AMD does have cheaper options

I saw that and I made a build myself on newegg with some of your suggestions! but that system is a little weak for what im looking for . more along the lines of 2gb gtx 770. but i did pick that mobo. I was not ignoring you!
