Building my 1st Gaming PC Budget $3000 - $4.000

Well I want a pretty amazing Gaming Rig that will do the Job for the next 1-2 years.

I will be buying my parts from the USA so if someone on here sells parts on ebay message me as you could list a computer with all my specs on ebay and then i could buy it off you and you could then buy all the parts assemble it and send to me! :) (obviously gd and alot of feedback would be needed)

I want an amazing machine and theres no need for a monitor,keyboard,mouse as i already have these :) the rest is all needed:)

so please help me post what you would buy with $3000- $4,000 etc

I had a quick look and that would buy you an amazing rig, something like this:

Intel Core2Quad QX6800 - $1300

8GB DDR2 RAM - $570

Nvidia 8800Ultra - $700

2x Western Digital Raptors 150gb each - $400

evga 680i SLI motherboard - $230

Coolermaster Stacker case - $260

2x Sony DVD Burners - $100

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme (heatsink) - $65

That gives you a total of about $3600.

Thats an amzing computer, one of the best you'll get nowadays...all you need to add is as much extra storage as you want, Hard drives are pretty cheap anyway.

Oh yeah.. forgot an OS.

Vista home premium retail - $220

You dont need that 8gb of RAM at all... drop 4 or 6 gb of it to save a lot of money and still have enough..

Thermaltake toughpower 750W PSU - $175

If you take out the 8gb of RAM, replace it with 4gb (which is still overkill) you shave over $300 off

G.SKILL 4GB RAM - $209

Extra hard drive:

Western Digital 500GB Hard Drive - $150

New total (with everything included, before shipping or rebates..): $3589

Oh and you might want a sound card:

Two 8800 Ultras is like $1500 (half your budget!) and at this point in time is completely unneccessary.. just one 8800 series card (gts, gtx or ultra) will max out any game for some time. But for higher resolutions its better to go higher than the 320mb gts.

I live in the UK too and you will find that parts are noticeably more expensive than over in the states, but for that kind of money you could still build a quality pc. Unfortunately newegg doesn't ship to the UK so your best bet is to buy most stuff from UK sites but the more expensive parts (graphics card) from ebay.com. I have looked around there and you can make some significant savings, even after shipping.

yeah i can ask a few sellers on ebay to list a cpu with all the components i want and if their interested in making it they jst list the exact system I buy it they buy all the parts and build it then send it to me asap all done within 2 weeks :)

indeed it will but id prob just upgrade certain components like GFX cards etc

what ever you do don't spend that much money its a total waste of money and a overkill why would you spend so much money on something that is a total overkill in games and will get outdatted when new series of cards and processorscome out just spend about $2000 on a build and then save the rest for future upgrades because that stuff will get outdatted

Its great if you want to SLI but thats not really necessary with an 8800GTX! Its better to get a P35 Chipset mobo for better futureproofedness! (lol)

And I'd choose the evga 680i mobo over that XFX anyway...

lol so true im buying my rig for the 1st time around the same time and have around the same budget i might go sli as ive seen so many vids on youtube I just wan SLI lol no point well if I buy a crazy ass monitor for it i think theres everypoint! and i can do tweaks every so often but check this dude out!

I think 540fps in fear is the point.

But if he goes with an SLI motherboard, he will have to upgrade it in the future if he wants to change the CPU or RAM (when DDR3 becomes the standard)

Well if i had that kind of money to spend i wouldn't even think twice id be running down the street right now to get SLI.

I guess i'd do something like this,

8800GTX SLI, q6600, 4gb mem, 500GB HDD,

I might get two 2900xt's instead of 8800gtx's depending on the motherboard.
