Just put together a new PC. Specification below.

Asus P8H67 R3 H67 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard

NZXT M59 Black Mid Tower Case

Arctic Power 700W PSU - With PCI-E, 4x SATA, 20+4, ATX12V, 8pin +12V Connectors

Core i5 2500 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache

GeForce 8800GT

Corsair 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory Module CL9(9-9-9-24) 1.5V Unbuffered Non-ECC

Seagate 1TB 3.5" Barracuda SATA-III 6Gb/s Hard Drive - 7200RPM 32MB Cache

Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW & DL SATA Optical Drive - OEM Black

When I plug the system in and press the power button nothing happens. No fan noise, no fan movement. No lights on the case are illuminated. The only sign of life is a bright green LED on the motherboard. So the motherboard is definitely getting power, but nothing else seems to be happening.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is your motherboard resting on all the case fitings or do you just have the mobo flat on the case panel?

Thanks for the tips guys. The problem now seems to be sorted. The CPU power connector has 8 holes, but the cable coming from the PSU only has 4 pins. Turns out I just had it plugged into the wrong half of the CPU mobo connector (if that makes sense).

I am curious, why did you opt for a 8800GT?
