Replace your CPU for the Core i7 920 and you don't need 8GB's of RAM, 6GB or even 4GB will do.

Is this PC for gaming or is it for other uses as well? You could save a good bit of money if you get the i7 920 (with the price difference you could get a 5970 video card). Get a good aftermarket heatsink & fan (like the Megahalems) and overclock the 920 to higher speeds than a stock 975. You will need different RAM. You have a dual channel kit selected. The i7 9xx cpu's and X58 mobo's will run DDR3 in triple channel. So, you will want 3 gb (3 x 1gb), 6 gb (3 x 2gb), or 12 gb (6 x 2gb). You shouldn't need 12gb of RAM (6gb should be more than enough). Corsair is pretty expensive you could save a little with other brands. Also, you would do just as well going with 1600 MHz speed for RAM (2000 MHz isn't necessary and most get it for overclocking). Also, you will want a normal HDD (500gb or 1tb) for storage. Personally, I would recommend just getting a normal HDD until the SSD's come down in price. Core i7 920 CPUCorsair Dominator 1600MHzOCZ Gold 1600MHz (I recommend this)

Case is good.

Power supply is WAAAAAY overkill for what you have, but for that price, it's pretty good.

Your CPU is a complete waste of money. You can easily get an i7 920, smack on a decent cooler, and get it that high yourself. Heck, I think it's even possible with the stock cooler.

8GB of memory is overkill unless you're planning to do some heavy video editing or rendering. If not, this 6GB memory set would be better for you, since your CPU socket supports triple channel.

Motherboard is good, depending on your planned uses. If you're planning to run a triple video card setup, then it's probably the best one you can get.

As for the SSD, I guess if you have the money, then go for it. But I don't think you would miss out on much if you just run two good hard drives in raid 0.

Yea i'm not sure if this will be a problem, but really you should just get a 6gb triple channel pack which is more than enough and later on you can get another pack.

For the RAM you want 3 sticks in order to run it in triple channel. You won't notice any difference between 6gb and 8gb of RAM. You can get the SSD and use it for your OS and games and then get a normal HDD for storage (for videos, music, and other data). There are guides for overclocking i7 9xx cpu's on the internet. I never overclocked until I got my 920, which is oc'd to 3.8 GHz. The i7 920 is fairly easy to overclock and you will save a lot of money by getting that & overclocking. That mobo is very good but it is geared towards those that have 3-way sli setups (and want the best performance for a lot of money). If you aren't planning on getting 3 video cards for SLI then you could get the ASUS P6t Deluxe V2 and still get the same performance as the other mobo (with 1 or 2 video cards).

+1 to this. There are so many inconsistancies with this build: the overclocking-orientated processor and memory with no aftermarket heatsink in sight, the over-powered PSU with lackluster parts, the insanely-overpriced motherboard with unwanted and unused features. Heck, you could save enough money on this system and buy a pair of 5870's to put in CF! Think about the hi-def glory you're depriving yourself of :(

In all seriousness though, you're overspending on the parts in this system. The i7 975 is a total waste of money. Don't believe me? Look at it this way; you can burn though three i7 920's at some ridiculous overclock and still have some pocket change left. The added features of the motherboard will likely be unused and unwanted, unless you're able to save enough money for a set of four Fermi cards. And as for the memory, you could buy a decent 6GB set for more than $200 less than the proposed Corsair 4GB (x2) set. To put it short, it would probably be best if you cut back with spending on over-priced components and instead pool the money towards the Fermi cards you're planning on buying.
