Hey there

I just got a new plasma (this one) and am a little scared of burn-in. My set has some fearues to protect but i don't know how well they work.

For example, if I watch CNN, the logo is at the same place on the screen for long, extended periods of time and I'm worried it'll burn in. How do ppl with plasmas watch CNN or other networks that do this?

Not sure how serious the burn-in issue really is anymore but want to be careful in case.

Any input appreciated.

thanks!
S

Excellent purchase, just turn down the brightness, contrast settings n such for the first 100 hours or so. It's not an issue anymore.

agreed! this is really all you can do you may still get a bit of retention but it shouldn't really be visible while watching other channels and should vanish in 30 seconds or so if you are still getting a lot of retention after changing your settings lower you may have a faulty plasma panel.

don,t panic for CNN, they have publicities .... a 8~10 minutes with the same icon at the same spot won't burn-in

the only thing you might need to be careful are games with interfaces, if you play for more than an hour you should try to change the screen sometimes

Hey guys, I've recently bought exactly the same TV. Mostly been playing Lost Odyssey on it and no burn in what-so-ever. That being said Lost Odyssey has absolutely no static icons.

To what Waza said, be careful if the interface is always up. Game devs try to make sure the icons/menu's/bars have a slick shine/refresh to them every so often, or that something happens so that the icon doesn't remain static.

All in all, enjoy your purchase man, I know I'm loving it :)
