Hey my friend here at work wants a pc just for flight sim games. Would it be cheaper to buy a pc that will play flight sim x? I know it takes a lot of power to play that game. I priced one out on newegg and I got to arOund 800 dollars. I don't need a monitor or keyboard and mouse. That was including windows 7. Thanks!

I seem to remember FSX being really bad at using threads.

FSX can use a lot of resources. A strong CPU and lots of memory is what is needed. For better recommendations, head over to the forums at AVSIM where the members there can help out better.

Not the new Microsoft Flight, I got into the beta and its a huge improvement, haven't seen any program except Prime use my CPU at 100% before this game.

Someone needs to try it on the X6 and SB-E CPU's.

When does that new flight come out? I was thinking a i5, 8 gigs and a gtx 560. How would that be for flight sim x? What would you recommend for a cheap motherboard? Not looking to over clock at all. Thanks

Based on the beta, I would guess 3-6 months, its very polished as it is currently, and online works great.

From what I can gather..... Flight is much more resource-friendly. It's also a much more limited game than FSX. With FSX, it's best to stick to rural airports. Big cities with busy airports and lots of traffic can really bog down a PC unless you have one of those behemoths oveclocked to 4ghz and beyond..

You mean Flight is a hog too? Ouch.

I know FSX is even more of a hog if there's more than two aircraft. My framerates dropped to single digits again when I tried this.
