I've been having gaming problems with my current machine for some time. So now I am going to buy a new one but I want some experienced PC gamers to help me out on what machines to look into. Any help would be awsome.

Gaming Laptops are expensive, so scrap that idea. If you want anything decent you can't really go out and buy a gaming computer, you should build it. Set a budget (you can build a decent one for $600), and the PC Hardware board can really help you out.

yeah dude, i would not recommend a gaming laptop at all. I made that mistake twice now. They are expensive as hell, and get outdated so fast and u can't upgrade them. At least, not the video card. Don't get a gaming laptop dude.

Why would you ever buy a gaming laptop? Their 2x more expensive then desktop computers and they cannot be upgraded...at all. So you would just be throwing away your money in the end.

I guess it does make more sense to just buy a desktop. My price range can go to about $1000.00 to maybe $1200.00 I,ve been saving up for a few months now.

Well for 1200 you can buy a top of the line rig that can last 4+ years. ;)

Yea, Or a Gaming Laptop that will last 2 years. maybe 3 if you push it. Meanwhile that 600 dollar Desktop you build will last the same amount of time versus the 1200 Laptop. But it will be upgradable to add 2-3 years to its life by a simple Video Card Upgrade.

Adding to this:

Ask yourself WHY do you want a Laptop over a Desktop?

The Only Reason to really own a Gaming Laptop would be for the Following Reasons:

  • Your Work is full of Travel and your always on the Road, So a Desktop is out of the Question
  • You LAN so much with Friends to the point of lugging a Tower and Monitor around is just god awful
  • Can you afford 1000-1200 Dollars every 2 Years (MAYBE 3 if your still playing Older Games)

Thats about it. If you say yes to all 3 Im sure there is no stopping You. But keep in mind if your going to Hang Around you house and use the Thing, Your a freaking idiot because you can spend 1000 on a Desktop that youll use for 4 years, Then only spend maybe 300 to swap out the Video card to get another 2-3 years out of it.

Desktop Cost of 6 years = Probably 1300ish

Laptop Cost of 6 years = Quite Possible it can be 3600 becuase theya re not upgradable. but it is possible youll only spend about 2400. It all Depends on the games youll be playing.

Also keep in mind new Gaming Laptops are out every few months that are better, If you want this Laptop for a certain game that is maybe late in the year or even early next year. Wait to buy that Laptop until its close to release because you need to squeeze every ounce of Life out of it.
