Buying PC that can play Crysis help please

im a cow/sheep/semi hermit, i have a pretty much expired gaming comp, anyways i was going to buy a new desktop PC/w moniter

my budget is around $2000

i want

quad-core and 8800, etc.

i just dunno where to buy it cheap, or where to buy parts cheap, i dont liek ordering online much though if its really cheap and you know the site i will, anyways i live in canada BTW in case shipping and stuff

your best bet would be to open up your yellow pages and call up about 5 or 6 computer stores in your area, tell them your wanting quotes, tell them what your wanting, and then go for the place which offers the cheapest price.

honestly you dont really need a quadcore but hey its your computer but if you do want a quadcore that bad its gna run you up, i would reccommned Core 2 Duo higher end modelds instead of 1099 for just a processor that will probably overheat and sound like a jet engine when you turn it on

no crysis does notutilize all 4 cores that is a dumb statement a Core 2 Duo saves time and money and a hassle and you still can get a good processor and overclock, crysis is the FIRST game to utilize direct X 10 to SOME of its compacity we won't need quad cores for a while single cores are still not outdated trust me we are just making it to dual core within this next gen, i am an I.T. i know what i am talking about

Everybody's too worried that you need an extreem pc to run crysis. If Crysis wouldn't run on mid and low-end pcs, crytek would be making a huge mistake. Yes, a premium pc will make crysis look prettier, but you don't need a screaming pc to run crysis. According to crytek, the game should be able to run on a single-core cpu (I imagine not very well, but it should be possible).

Get a nice pc, don't break your bank buying premium parts. The highest-end parts are not worth getting unless you have money to burn or you are an enthusist.

Hmm... well the problem is that I (as stated before) am pretty much new to pc gaming and so building a comp seems seriously scary haha but i actually heard that if you get the pieces and then take them to like OfficeMax, they'll actually build it for you for like $50.

besides the 9 series hasnt been announced yet as far as dates and probably wont be around until november or dec, which is while to wait and have to pay an extra 700 for a 9 seriesDBoCaRnAgE

Ah ok. some ppl were telling me to wait but idk it's like wait for what? lol yeah everyone recommends new egg for this stuff so i'll go check them out. and yeah if i get that config i'll get it with that stuff you recommended ;)

the only thing is that im confused about mobo's. i'm not sure what the differences are between different kinds and if it'll be compatible with my cpu etc.

I just built the PC in my sig about three weeks ago.

I went to Newegg. They're awesome! I first bought a Rosewill 750 Watt power supply, but it turns out they're not that great. Orthos would bomb out on me because of power issues when I had my E6850 at 3.2gh (or so I understand - not too knowledgeable when it comes to OCing...yet). So, two and a half weeks later, I call up Newegg, tell them I want to swap out my PSU for an upgrade, and BAM! No issues or hassles what-so-ever. Got a smokin' OCZ 1010 Watt PSU for an extra hundred bucks. Props to NewEgg customerservice.

Anyway, the E6850 is probably the best value vs. performance in my opinion. I'm not sure anything will truly be taking advantage of quad core CPUs any time soon. That's the way everyone makes it seem at least.

Oh, and you don't want to mess with Dell. Unless they've changed the way things work over there recently, all the hardware is proprietary, meaning if you want an upgrade, you gotta through dell. Not to mention their customer service sucks!

First, I will buy the parts from newegg. An evga 8800 GTS320 MB and a Q6600 should be a good combo. Don't get a sound card though since you are buying vista. A good monitor is the LG 20" 1680 by 1050, 2ms response time, 5000:1 contrast ratio.Mayilan

ok in case you dont know higher end sound cards help with frame rates, if you want smoother sound and for the SOUND to keep up with th eGRAPHICS get a sound card like Creative X-FI SB

Yeah, it was seriously bothering me in BioShock, so I went out and bought a sound card. Fixed the problem and improved my frames per second.

There are a few places on the internetyou could look at. Cyberpowerpc, Ibuypower, Buyxg.com, Aeoncraft.com, Pugetcomputers.com, Vigorgaming.com, avadirect.com,and velocitymicro.These guys are all build custom built computers made for pc gaming. They are independant and have excellent customer service. They use brand name parts, motherboard, video card, ram, etc. It is pretty much like you building a computer but they do it for you. The computer specs you see below is what I got from Avadirect.com few months ago it was $2500. Now you could get it for around $2100.

There is a site you could do some research about these retailers based on their customer service. Resellerratings.com is a good site where people like you and me go to and review retailers and computer builders like Cyberpowerpc. Just search for all the names i have listed above. You could see a % rating based on how well they are doing in customer service. Excellent place to do research based on the company you are dealing will. You wont want to spend $2000 and end up going through hell if you had a problem.

For your monitor, I would buy that separetly. Go to Newegg.com where they have a couple of dozen different brands of LCD monitors. Some of these sites will only have one brand monitor. If that is ok for you, then you could get a monitor from these websites.
