well i need your help once again as i have ubuntu 8.10 installed on my computer and it isnt dual boot either i have no internet right now but i have the linksys wusb100 and the cd that came with it. when i put the disc in and the pop up comes up and i press accept there is an error so i cannot install it. i heard about WINE but i dont know how to put it because i dont have internet so help would be appreciated

p.s i know some are sentence run ons but hey im still on winter break

What is the error you get ? The disk itself could be faulty. And how did you post this thread if you do not have any internet ???

What is the error you get ? The disk itself could be faulty. And how did you post this thread if you do not have any internet ???

the error is it says cannot find autorun.inf or something close and i have another computer

My wireless worked straight out the box when I set up Ubuntu so I'm not that familiar with setting up wireless drivers. I think autorun is a Windows only program so doubt that will work. There is a program called ndiswrapper which is used to install Windows drivers on Ubuntu. If you go into synaptic and install ndisgtk this will install the graphical frontend and the other bits you need, then you can have a tinker with that.

For more complete support you should go to http://ubuntuforums.org/ and post there on your other computer. They have never failed to help me with any problem I've had.

The cd is for Windows and will not work with Ubuntu. Can you see your wireless options on the top panel on your desktop? You have to add the wireless network manually and input the passphrase to allow access.

A pci card would have been better. You need the ralink rt2870 drivers.
