I really need a new monitor, but there is so many different choices and so many factors to take into consideration when buying one. First of all... IPS or TN. I have been looking at the Acer GD235 120hz monitor, but its $300, so i've been looking on ebay and I was going to bid on one but I totally forgot and was busy today. The bidding ended at $160, so hopefully another one goes on sale. Do you think this is the right choice or can I get a different monitor that would be a better bang for the buck. I kind of wanted to get an IPS panel, but they are so much more expensive.. like up into the 300$ range, so i'm not sure about that, but if I can find one used than that would be cool. I know tha IPS panels have a slower response time, but I don't think it will make that much of a difference for me, because I'm not really that hardcore about FPS games. I do play the occasional counterstrike,Cod, or Battlefield match, but I don't really think it will be that big of a deal.

Yeah, but cheap IPS panels have problems and are generally not all that good for gaming.

My Dell U2412M is a cheap IPS panel and is actually quite good for gaming. Of course it's not $200 cheap :P Just depends what you prefer - having a good picture or having an extra smooth picture. I don't see the point in getting a new monitor just for fast response time, as long as the particular IPS panel isn't terribly bad in terms of response. Unless you're a Quake 3 slut and don't care about what you're looking at (in which case you're happy as long as you're getting frags, right?).

Currently I'm using my 32" tv as a monitor but it's not very good at all for gaming or doing things like photoshop, so I really need a new monitor! I'll take a look at the one you suggested.
