I am thinking about getting Deus Ex Collection because of Steam sales. I once borrowed it from my friend but I think I was having some problems with it. Here are my specs:

CPU Speed: 2.80 GHz Performance Rated at 5.04 GHz

RAM: 3.5 GB

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

Video Card: GeForce 9500 GT

DirectX version: 9.0c

Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio

Dont make a thread twice on two different boards. You already have good answers on your original one.

I don't understand how your PC would have any trouble running those games. So far there have only been 2 Deus Ex games, right? How old is the 2nd game? I know the first one is from about 10 years ago.. How could any PC in the last 7 years or so have any trouble with it?

There aren't many PCs the first Deus Ex CAN'T run on. The second is more demanding but should run fine on your setup. Can't wait for Deus Ex HDTP.

the second one isnt very demanding now. its an original xbox game! most people who wnat to play (willing) dues ex2 will also download the HD textures to replace the original ones. that might make it more demanding, but i ran it on a PC worse then your's and it was great! (while ur checking out old Ion Storm games, why not find the THeif series, very similar)

Not the best of settings? If he can't run both games on max with those specs I'll eat my shorts.

a quick GPU swap and he'll be fine. only just now console ports are asking for 2.66ghz dual cores (black ops). otherwise most still only ask fro entry level 2.13ghz duals

I believe you meant asking for quads. Black Ops runs optimized on a quad like mine. Go quad if you are getting a new CPU from scratch, games are now optimized for them at last. The time has come finally to embrace quads, not 6-cores CPUs though.

no i meant core 2 duo. i though the box said 2.66ghz dual core, but from these website it suggests the e6600 which is 2.4ghz. acording to the last site, yes it is optimised for quads, bt a fast dual core still produced 47FPS (but the website doesnt really consider this average a playable rate.... with a 5970)

You can settle for passable performance or master the game and get a quad. Games are going to be more and more demanding. I wouldn't settle on a dual core in 2010, you will want to upgrade to a quad soon regardless if you do go dual core.

I bought it on Steam but I am having some problems running it.

I cant even get into the game. When I press play this message shows up. It only lasts one second and you cant change anything. Then it disappears and nothing happens.

Deus Ex first time configuration

Your computer supports the following 3d devices. Deus ex has chosen the optimal one. If you wish to change this, highlight an option bellow.

Detecting 3d video devices, please wait…

Next.................................................. Cancel

he's not setttling for adual core, he already has a pretty good one.....so at this point just upgrading the GPU is his best upgrade. a faster HDD for windows is also recommended, and can always transfer over to a new PC down the track to.

To OP, is your onboard graphics disabled? Go into Device Manager and make sure it is disable if using a video card and make sure the 9500 GT drivers are installed.

Curious, is your GPU PCI-e or the PCI version? Both will max Deus Ex 1, even with HDTP were it finished. If it IS PCI only then you will want to upgrade PCs to play games because you can't play very much with a PCI card except Diablo II and Deus Ex type games.

I wish I had solid state drive for Windows myself but they are so freaking expensive. OP doesn't need that at all for Deus Ex 1. Deus Ex 3 being a console port, should run so-so on his rig WITH a GPU upgrade. As long as it isn't a GTA IV type port. 9500GT doesn't allow for modern games to be played. Too slow for physx too. If you get a new PC or build one, get one with a quad.
