If you head over to the Witcher tech forum... you may get better insight. You'll also realize a lot of people there cant' run the game on systems that should have no problem running the game.... http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0
Plays fine on my machine, but that was after I replaced the binkw32.dll for an older version of 1.9.1.0. For some reason the newer binkw32.dll that came with the hotfix and the 1.5 patch... would make the opening movie's audio cut in and out, on my machine. http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=24645.msg530821#msg530821 "tgfmfc" found the solution (I had hotlinkeda binkw32.dll 1.9.1.0 download, in a post, there.... but I think the administrator deleted it. Guess it was a no-no. However.... they forgot to delete the Global Mod's hotlink... which he orginally got from my deleted link: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=24645.msg5323911#msg5323911.) That is... for those that have the bink movie audio cutout problem, like I had. I suspect it happens for those of us that still use a single core processor. Seems that duel core users have no audio cutout problems with the opening movie and the newer binkw32.dll file.
(BTW, after the 1.4 patch... there was a blur effect problem for a lot of users... the hotpatch and later the 1.5 patch fixed the blur problem, but then introduced that movie audio cutout problem, for some users...such as myself.)
Game works fine for me now. My system is a 939 Athlon64 3000+ OC'ed to 2.4GHZ, EVGA 8600GT, and 1GB of system Ram. Pretty much, plays the game fine at medium settings.
