I have both on Steam, and both installed.

I thought Awakening was a stand-alone expansion, but I couldn't find a separate folder in Steamapps\Common (or anywhere else), that's why I'm asking here.

No it isn't according to steam, it says it requires the original for the expansion to function.

Ok, thanks for the answers.

There's nothing on the Bioware page, but I forgot to take a look at Steam itself.

Awakening is standalone, but uses some of the main files.

Example: I had problems installing Patch 1.04, it failed, and removed all my DLC authorizations. So I had to uninstall & reinstall DA:O as 1.04 and to get all the extras back.

As soon as DA:O was uninstalled, Awakenings was no longer available insofar as being bootable. It showed as bootable again once I reinstalled DA:O.

As another example, you can only run Awakening from the Man Game Menu page, afaik.

Do you have the retail version, right? I mean, even buying it from Impulse the game "detaches itself" from the Impulse launcher, unlike Steam, right?

I didn't kown you ran the game from the main game menu on other versions, here's how it is on Steam:

In the retail version you must have Dragon Age Origins installed to run Awakening. You need to first load Origins and select Awakening from the addons to play it. (I think its addons, its a submenu within Origins anyway)..

I dont know how the steam version works.

He has both the main game and awakening on steam he stated that in the OP, stop derailing the thread.

And yes, you need to have DA:O installed to play awakening as far as I know.
