I have a Dell Precision T3400 desktop. I would like to upgrade the graphics card to a EVGA 275 GTX Co op edition card. Upon entering my product service tag number (like a serial number) into dell.com. The upgrades options said my computer can handle a EVGA 260 GTX graphics card. Because the EVGA 260 GTX lookS very similar in size to the 275 GTX I think it would fit in my computer and also work in my computer. Below are some references, pics, links AND SPECS OF pc. I woudl tell you what kind of motherboard I have, however I do not know how.

The case measurements, (from me measuring outiside) are 17 inch height, 17 inch length, and 6 inch wide

1) Please let me know if this graphics card will fit and work in my computer? Will it work with my power supply? I have called Dell and they could not answer this question - pretty pathetic I know.

2) Please let me know what the blue L-shaped plastic piece is on the bottom of the PC. Should I remove it?

3) Also does anyone know how I can get a full losts of the specs/ hardware of my computer? I have Dell.com specs but they seem pretty lacking. Any software that can tell me all my specs, paid or free is fine.

4) If I need a better Power supply please recommend a good one?

Thanks for your help please see below.

You would have to remove that blue thing no matter what video card you bought. I'm pretty sure you would have to remove that black thing as well. I'ts kind of hard to tell what's what without seeing your case in real life. It's BTX, which means it's non-standard. Those cards that dell says are compatible aren't really any different than the one you want to buy. I think you're good to go. As far as your PSU is concerned, I think it's on the light side but you should be OK if you're feeling cheap. Personally, I'd go with a 6-700 watt corsair or pc power & cooling, but that's just me.

A GTX 275 requires a minimum of a 600W power supply, you have a 525W power supply. These mid/high range GPUs are HUGE, you may need to remove the blue thing, the black one looks like the CPU cooler.

For an EVGA GTX 275 CO-OP video card you will definitely need a new power supply. The CO-OP edition has a GTX 275 gpu (for graphics) and a GTS 250 gpu (for Physx) on one video card. The extra gpu will only come in handy with games that support Physx. There are only a handful of games that use Physx and only a few of those are considered to be top notch games. Personally, I would recommend a regular GTX 275 or the GTX 260 over the 275 CO-OP edition. That PSU might (just barely) be okay for a normal GTX 275 and more than likely good enough for a GTX 260. Make sure that your PSU has two 6-pin PCIe connectors (or one 6-pin and one 8-pin for the CO-OP edition if you get a new PSU). To be honest, I think it would be better to get a new PSU, because who knows how good that one will perform if it is put under additional stress of supplying power to a graphics card. I have no idea what that blue thing is other than it looks like it is supporting what looks like the cpu heatsink (black thing). Make sure the heatsink is still stable and secured after removing the blue thing before turning your PC back on.
