I'm mostly a console guy but I've missed RTS games lately. I'll be playing them primarily on my laptop. It's a Toshiba, with Intel Core Duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66 GHz 1.67 GHz. 2 gigs of RAM. I have no idea what my video card is. I also run Vista on here. Anyway, with the above information, what PC strategy games can you guys reccommend that will run on low-to-medium settings? I like the Total War series, but I also don't mind resoruce-gathering games like StarCraft and such.

Warcraft 3 is a good one that should run on your computer. Homeworld is also a good one that will run.

Hmm plenty of them, look for RTS that debuts prior to 2005...or maybe 2004. I think your laptop should be ok. Apart from the obvious WC3, you can also try Star Wars : Empire at War. If you don't mind Turn-based strategy, games like Civilisation series and especially Galactic Civilisation 2 should be must-haves.

Command & conquer: Generals and the Zero hour expansion pack. Together it makes for a decent game. Cheap. Doesn't need too much from your computer. Remains pretty challenging. It's a pretty good game and a nice expansion that fits it well.

You may want to look into Sins of a Solar Empire. I'm able to play on my laptop at around medium settings with decent enough performance.
